Commercial feature – The West End is home to the highest level of commercial theatre performances in the UK, with everything from popular musicals to displays of Shakespeare’s greatest works.
These London shows have attracted a number of famous celebrities over the years, including the likes of Kevin Spacey, Whoopi Goldberg, Idina Menzel, Patrick Stewart and many more.
Tickets are in high demand; total sales surpassed a record-breaking 13 million in 2007 and only continue to rise as a myriad of new shows and even more internationally-acclaimed actors make their way to some of London’s loveliest theatrical venues.
If you’re thinking of visiting the capital, you’ll probably know that hotel prices don’t often come cheap. Thankfully, however, it’s now possible to secure hotel and theatre packages to help you enjoy the fabulous city of London to the absolute fullest; you can see a West End show and have a night in a hotel for less than £70 per person.
For starters, one of the most talked about performances in UK theatre today is the musical production of Sister Act, with the legendary actress Whoopi Goldberg staring as Mother Superior until August 31st, and generating huge demand.
If you are unable to get into town before Whoopi’s guest performance concludes, don’t worry as there are a number of other West End shows for you to enjoy.
The Victoria Apollo is home to the critically-acclaimed Wicked, which all fans of the Wizard of Oz simply have to see, and just around the corner Billy Elliot is dancing his way into the hearts of audience members at the Victoria Palace Theatre. There is also Jersey Boys, which tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, among a wide variety of other great shows currently in production.
Whatever performance your preferences lead you to, you’ll find that when you plan ahead you can save a great deal of money and will not have to worry about paying over-inflated prices for the hottest tickets in the city.
There are so many shows to see, and with a number of great offers available online to get your hotel and your tickets sorted out at a discount price, you’ll be able to take in a great number of theatrical performances and visit London many times to repeat the experience.
