Around 250 responses were received for the Coseley School public consultation, it has been revealed.

The consultation, which began in February, came to an end at midnight last Tuesday.

But concerned parents have already began the application process of transferring children to other schools.

Councillor Star Anderton, who represents the Coseley East Ward, said: "It is a terrible situation that these children have been left in as they will be the ones who will suffer if the school closes.

"It is hard to believe that there hasn't been more replies as this has been a huge concern for the community.

"It just feels like a deal has already been done and it has been on the cards for a while."

Following the announcement of the closure in January, Dudley Council leader Pete Lowe insisted the decision on the school's future was by no means a 'done deal' and that the children were a top priority.

Angry pupils and parents had protested outside Dudley Council House before a meeting after the plans were initially revealed.
