Hoax caller targets Walsall primary school

Three fire engines and an ambulance were called out unnecessarily to a primary school in Walsall following a hoax call.

Firefighters from Bloxwich, Willenhall and Walsall were called to Beacon Primary in Davis Road, New Invention after a reports of fire.

But after a thorough investigation, during which alarms were checked and the property was inspected, it was declared a false alarm and a 'malicious incident.'

The hoax call, made on Monday night, was traced back to Willenhall, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Spokesman Matthew Smith said: "Hoaxers put the lives of our firefighters and members of the public at risk. Malicious calls mean we send fire engines out on the roads, in emergency mode, when we don't need to.

"Hoax callers who are caught by the police can be fined and jailed."
