Students and staff are celebrating after their school received a £300,000 makeover.
An extension at Great Bridge Primary School, Tipton, has officially been opened.
The school, in Mount Street, has created the large suite of classrooms, speech and language support rooms and a physiotherapy and sensory room, collectively named Little Bridge.
The work has been funded through the school budget over a period of two years, at a cost of £290,000.
The first phase of building was completed in January 2011 and the second phase during the summer break this year. It is now used by children in smaller teaching groups than the standard classes of 30.
Miss Liz Regan, headteacher, said: “Consistently high quality teaching and these additional learning spaces are crucial for our children if they are to secure a positive start in their educational journey.
“Little Bridge has enabled us to teach children in smaller, focussed groups resulting in accelerated learning for the children and the gap between achievements here in Great Bridge and nationally are closing as a result.”Subscribe to our Newsletter
