Almost 2,000 students are being relocated to a landmark building in Cannock due to the £6 million revamp of the town’s college campus.

Learners from South Staffordshire College are moving in to former NHS office, Crown House.

They will be based there while the Cannock campus has a new glass-roofed atrium installed at its centre. Extensions will also be built on either side of the building. Crown House in Beecroft Road was formerly an office for South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust.

The building, almost 17,000 sq ft in size, is owned by The Pritchard Group.

Adam Barker, an architectural technician for the owners, said today: “Many of their core subjects will be taught in the building.

The new campus is due to be completed by September 2013. There are no plans to increase enrolment numb-ers. Cannock campus is home to 1,700 students.
