‘Good’ C of E inspection for Wolverley CE Secondary School
Wednesday 25th January 2012, 8:57AM GMT.
Wolverley CE Secondary School was inspected last month by inspectors from the Church of England. The overall result was that the “distinctiveness and effectiveness“ of the school as a Church of England school are “good”.
Wolverley has only been part of the Church of England family of schools since 2007. During these last few years there has been rapid improvement and the school is now classed as “outstanding” at meeting the needs of all its learners.
Head teacher Richard North was delighted at the outcome, and said: “Wolverley has improved consistently since 2007. This inspection rewards the very hard work of students, staff and parents. The school is very well placed to continue to grow and provide a very distinctive education.”
The inspector was particularly keen to comment on the positive, calm learning environment saying: “This is a well-ordered community with a high level of mutual respect that can be witnessed in the relationships that exist between all members of the school community.
“The positive Christian ethos of the school ensures that all pupils are valued. The vision of the head teacher, supported by his staff and governing body, is creating an effective, forward looking and caring school in a happy and secure learning environment.”
Teacher Miss Kerry Poole, who is the coordinator of personal, social and religious education will continue to play a leading role in building firmly on the strengths of the report which stated that “there is a very real sense that this school is on a journey, with secure roots being carefully nurtured and growth monitored and encouraged. It is ambitious for its future as a Church of England school.”
