Peter Shilton guest at Castle High School night
Friday 25th November 2011, 3:36PM GMT.
Castle High School in Dudley saw the school hall filled to capacity, with over 300 students, former students, staff, parents and governors, to celebrate the achievements of the last school year.
The year was yet another record one for the school with record GCSE pass rates.
Peter Shilton OBE, who holds the record for the highest number of caps for England, was there to present the prizes.
In a brief address to the audience Peter talked about his career and the people who had influenced him and attributes students would need to demonstrate in order to succeed in the future. Of course no talk by Peter is complete without referring to the Maradonna and ‘the hand of God’ incident.
Afterwards Peter talked with individuals and groups for over an hour.
Headteacher Michelle King said “Peter showed a genuine interest in the young people he met and his talk was really inspirational and so relevant to students, thus supporting the work of the school.”
