Top performing schools are revealed

The country’s top performing independent schools can be revealed after league tables were released today.
In the West Midlands, King Edward VI High School for Girls in Birmingham came top of the pile for its A and AS-level exam results.
Edgbaston High School for Girls was ranked second in the region, with King Edward’s School in Birmingham finishing third, according to the figures published by the Independent Schools Council.
Wolverhampton Grammar School came seventh out of 11 in the list.
More than 75 per cent of students at the school gained A* to B in their A-level exams this year and almost half of all passes were at A or A*.
