The Black Country – a vital part of our heritage or an age-old cliche that has us mocked by the rest of the country?

What do you think? To mark Black Country Day on July 14, the Express & Star is asking the people of the Black Country what you think about our area. About its values, its identity, its trades and the future of the Black Country – should it be a part of a 'Greater Birmingham'?

Our survey aims to find out whether the Black Country is still important to people.

It was once the industrial hub of Britain, but in recent years the area's reputation has been hit by factory closures and job losses.

But the ground-breaking Black Country Day and festival has helped rekindle people's pride in the place where they live. The Black Country now has its own flag – are we all still flying the flag for the our region?

In our survey, we are asking what the Black Country means to you, the people who live here. Good or bad, let us know. We will publish the results on Black Country Day.
