Tough training keeps Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers on their toes

With about 150 performances each year, these ballet dancers put themselves through more strain than most professional athletes.

And with hours of training and warm ups each day this is no hobby. The dancers push themselves to the limit for a dance form which at one point arguably went out of fashion.

In fact many people think they know all there is to know about ballet – classical music, pointed toes and tutus.
