Stageworks Performing Arts Academy celebrated 100 per cent pass rate in their performance arts awards exams this month.

A total of 44 pupils passed with merits and distinctions after demonstrating their talents in singing, dancing and drama.

Emma Hobbis, who runs the academy at Leighswood Primary School in Aldridge, said she was very proud to hear the results of this year's exams.

The 28-year-old, of Aldridge, who has been running the academy for youngsters aged three to 18 since 2009, said: "They have to display all three disciplines in their exams.

"Our youngest group had an animal jungle theme. They did a song, dance and drama piece.

"Other groups did Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz. Another group did a play called Dream Jobs. They did a dance to Dolly Parton's nine to five and a song called Seasons of Love from the musical, Rent.

"I'm extremely proud of them. To have all 44 students pass the exams is hard enough but for all of them to pass with merits and distinctions is extremely pleasing.

"They have been preparing for the exams since January. The examiner was very impressed and said it was the highest quality of performance she had seen in a while."

All the students received certificates for passing their exams.

The academy holds lessons at Leighswood Primary School in Broadmeadow, Aldridge, on Saturdays between 9.15am and 10.15am for youngsters aged three to seven and between 10am and 1pm for pupils aged from seven to 18.
