Philomena and Ronald Darley, from Rowan Grove in Brewood, Staffordshire, are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

They first met at Brewood Village Hall in the 1950s.

In 1955 the pair married at the village's St Marys Church and then lived together at a cottage in Bath Farm in the Chillington Estate of Bishops Wood before later moving back to Brewood.

The couple have two daughters, a son and four grandchildren.

Ronald, 81, said: "It's been a wonderful 60 years.

"We've had our ups and downs along the way as you would expect but we've had some great laughs.

"We've made the most of what we had - there were no TVs or mobile phones back in that time.

"We've been lucky in the sense I always had a job to bring in the money to help look after Philomena and the family."

To help celebrate the big anniversary, the pair received a special card from The Queen congratulating them on their big day.

Philomena, 80, said: "The biggest advice I'd give to young couples today is to learn to give and take and appreciate one another."
