'It seemed like a good idea'.

Often the best misadventures start like that and it is how two friends from the Black Country have ended up on Coach Trip.

Billie Causley, aged 25, from Tipton, and her friend Bobby Singh, aged 20, from Darlaston, are in the starting line up of a new series of the Channel 4 reality show on Monday.

The programme, hosted by tour guide Brendan Sheerin, sees pairs and couples from all over the UK journey across Europe - voting each other off as they go.

Billie, who teaches dance in Wednesbury, said: "At first we applied to be one of the couples who comes in when somebody is voted off. When we applied, though, we had a Skype interview and somebody from the production team called us and said they wanted us in the starting line-up.

"We had never seen the show before and at first it seemed like a great idea, now I am dreading seeing myself on TV. I bet we made complete idiots of ourselves."

Billie and Bobby, a fashion student at Birmingham City University, first met four years ago when they both worked in a sandwich shop in West Bromwich and said they have been inseparable ever since.

The programme was filmed in October, starting in Croatia, with Billie and Bobby lasting two weeks before they were voted off by the other contestants.

"We made them do it," Billie said. "I had to get back to the UK for work so we asked everybody to vote us off.

"We made it to Italy. We would have liked to have stayed longer but two weeks was plenty of time. One of the recurring jokes was that Bobby and I were looking for an elephant, but we didn't find one.

"Everyone else on the coach was really nice, there is going to be an after show party soon and we are looking forward to seeing everyone. We ran into Brendan a few weeks ago. He is a really nice guy and was so lovely to us."

The pair have now set their sights even higher with plans to try out for more popular television programmes.

"We want to try out for Couples Come Dine With Me and Big Brother next," Billie said. "We are going to take over the world."

The new series of Coach Trip, featuring Billie and Bobby, starts on Monday at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
