A fitness instructor is jumping for joy after introducing a new exercise craze - Boogie Bounce.

Vicky Adams discovered the new gym must-do, which uses trampolines, on the internet and wanted to try it herself.

But she found that although big in American, it is rarely practised on this side of the Atlantic.

Vicky, who lives in Walsall, eventually found an instructor in Sutton Coldfield and became qualified herself.

Now the 22-year-old is leading classes of her own in Darlaston.

Since opening in January, she now runs seven classes and has a waiting list of people eager to sign up.

During the 45-minute sessions, Vicky teaches various Boogie Bounce moves, including The Frog and The Stomp.

She said: "It's really fun. We bounce to music while I tell them the moves. You can put as much energy as you want into it. If you really want to get fit, you lift your knees higher and dig your heels in harder, it's up to the individual.

"The great thing is that I can't tell who is working harder than anyone else and I think that appeals to people. They don't feel any different to anyone else or feel pressure to be the fittest."

Previously Vicky, who lives in Moxley, taught dance for six years, covering styles from hiphop and street to jazz and contemporary.

But she says Boogie Bounce has introduced a whole new audience to exercise.

"My Saturday afternoon class includes a girl of eight and a lady of 55 so there's a massive age range. It's all the craze in America where it was started by a woman after she fell off her horse and had to have two new knees. It's especially good for people who may have knee problems because it doesn't impact on your joints."

All her classes are held at the Olio Hub in Midland Road.
