James Morris, director of JM Music Promotions has set up a weekly promotions gig and is looking for bands to take the spotlight at a local recording studio.

The venture has been organised jointly by JM Music Promotions and JJM Studios and bands and solo artists are being encouraged to get involved with the gigs, which will run most Fridays.

Mr Morris, aged 31, said: "We are looking to work with a number of bands from across the local area. My business, JM Music Promotions and JJM Studios have come together to set up a series of live music events to give a stage to bands and to help give local talent good exposure."

He added: "The event is a paid gig for bands and provides them with a spring board which will hopefully help get them more dates, tours and festivals outside of the Midlands too.

"In addition to the exposure I am keen to help educate bands about the industry because there is a lot to learn. I want to help and support upcoming artists because I am very passionate about the live music scene."

The studios on Pool Street can hold an audience of around 100 people and Mr Morris said: "The venue is great for bands because the size makes for an intimate setting for performers."

In addition to live bands the studio also has a room to accommodate live DJs and is hoping to bring signed acts to the studio too.

The father of two from Willenhall went full time with his business six months ago after being offered support through a new enterprise scheme run by Walsall Chambers of Commerce.

He said: "It has been fantastic to focus full time on running club nights and managing bands. I am looking forward to promoting the music scene in Walsall."

Any bands or solo artists interested in taking part in the club nights should call Mr Morris on 07480243384.
