The centuries old tradition, where people meet in an orchard and encourage a bountiful harvest from trees through music and toasting to good health, is still alive and well at the Fordhouses beauty spot.

Young children beat trees with sticks in an attempt to awaken it, while drummers banged out a rhythm for the groups voices to sing over, before adults give a final smash to the branches to make sure their work is done.

Families and friends gathered in the orchard to take part in the celebrations, which are held daily for a four day period every February.

The ceremonies for each wassail vary from town to town but they generally all have the same core elements.

Bosses at Moseley Old Hall will be hoping the fruits of this groups session are clear to see come autumn.
