Two fennec foxes have arrived at the Animal Zone at the Rodbaston Campus of South Staffordshire College.

Mother and daughter duo Marley and Foxy Lady are the first fennec foxes ever to be kept at the facility.

Senior animal keeper Sam Ashby said: "They've settled in really well. We've never had fennec foxes at the centre before."

Marley was born in 2007, while Foxy Lady, her daughter, was born in 2012. They arrived at Rodbaston from Drusillas Park, a small zoo in East Sussex.

Fennec foxes are found in the Sahara of North Africa. Their most distinctive feature is their unusually large ears.

Their coats, ears and kidney functions have adapted to high-temperature, low-water, desert environments.

The animals mainly eat insects, small mammals and birds. The fennec has a life span of up to 14 years in captivity.

Rodbaston's Animal Zone is home to around 750 animals from meerkats to monkeys, rabbits to alpacas.

The venue has a 'Meet the Spring Lambs' event taking place on March 21, 22, 28 and 29.
