Thousands of fans of the Mini came to Staffordshire to view and showcase a range of models at Stafford's County Showground at the weekend.

Cars on show ranged from the Morris Mini-Minor of 1959 through to the more modern Countryman.

It was the 16th year of the Mini Fair at the Showground yesterday and the crowds which flocked to the event showed the British icon is not losing any of its popularity.

People came from across Europe to showcase their motors and view some of the 100 which were on display. Around 3,000 enthusiasts, young and old, attended the event organised by the British Mini Club, including some from as far away as Israel, Ireland Scotland and Cornwall, along with people from across the Midlands.

Recognisable – the outside of the customised Mini

Some of the cars had been customised including a model with its roof removed and new exhausts fitted.

The fair was hailed a huge success by organiser Dave Hollis. He said: "Everybody loved it. The atmosophere was fantastic. The Mini is probably the best-known car out there. It has always been there and is still there now.

"Everybody loves a Mini. It is as simple as that. A lot of people can relate to them as they have owned one or driven one, there is that natural bond."
