Staffordshire Police raise over £4k for Children in Need

Published

Staffordshire Police staff have revealed they have raised more than £4,000 for Children in Need.

Officers organised the force's fundraising event and 27 teams made up of 81 fitness fanatics pushed themselves to the limit during a mini triathlon which saw them cycle and run over 300 kilometres on the spot.

They were able to hand over a cheque for the charity totalling £4,126.20.

Temporary Chief Constable Jane Sawyers said, "We are thrilled that we have been able to raise so much money for Children in Need. Everyone who took part put everything into the challenge, and had incredible support from their family, friends and colleagues."

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Arnold added: "It was great to bring to a close such a fantastic, well-supported and fun event. Everyone that went before us really set the standard and put the pressure on us to perform.

"Although our bikes, treadmills and running machines were located at Staffordshire Police headquarters, in real terms, between the 27 teams that took part, we clocked up 348 kilometres taking us two-thirds of the way around the county border, which is amazing. It was a pleasure to be involved for such a worthy cause."

A homemade cake sale, which took place on the same day, generated £465.57 towards the total, and a chocolate sale in the human resources department also raised £100, which shows that officers and staff at Staffordshire Police, really do have an appetite for this kind of event.
