Abby Scott, aged 29, is part of an ensemble of voices and soloists including Flight Lieutenant Matt Little and 12-year-old Canterbury Cathedral chorister and BBC Radio 2's Young Chorister of the Year Finalist William Inscoe.

The piece was composed by her husband Chris Eaton, who wrote Cliff Richard's infamous Christmas hit Saviour's Day, alongside Judd Field.

It celebrates the power of Christmas to bring peace in the midst of war and commemorates those who fought in World War One.

The singers are accompanied by members of the RAF Spitfire Choir.

A video for the song – 1914 – A Christmas Carol – was recorded at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.

Proceeds from track will go to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and ABF The Soldier's Charity.

Abby said she was delighted to be involved in the project.

She added: "It's a huge honour to be involved in this song and share the message of peace at Christmas.

"Recording the video at Westminster Abbey at the Grave of the Unknown Solider, alongside today's servicemen and women was an incredibly powerful experience. Mother-of-one Abby said: "As a mum, I can't even imagine sending my son off to war or having my husband not come home.

"And almost every family and every village in the country was affected by the Great War.

"Our song honours both those who died and the families who grieved back at home."

Charity bosses are hoping the single battles its way to Number One in the 100th anniversary year of the Great War.

It will be available for pre-order online later this month.
