Bird breeder Philip Dugmore was fined £500 at Stafford Crown Court for illegally smuggling nine eagles into the country from South Africa, in an attempt to breed them.

Pennine Radio were awarded a radio 'Oscar' for their service to Bradford following the Bradford City stadium fire on May 11, 1985 - the worst fire in English football history - in which 56 were killed, and a further 265 were injured.
