Craig Mason worked as a machinist at Point 8 in Halesowen Road, Dudley, making interiors and displays for libraries, schools and museums.

He was made redundant in November last year after being employed by the company for 26 years.

And after applying for numerous jobs he decided to set up his own business.

He said: "It was a complete shock when I was made redundant and quite worrying. I didn't expect it at all and I was unsure of what to do next.

"I looked and applied for various other jobs but I think because of my age I was unsuccessful.

"I have been doing Tae Kwon Do for around six years having trained at Bloxwich Tae Kwon Do Club and I really enjoy it so I decided to take the plunge and start my own classes."

The 45-year-old of Lyttleton Road, New Invention, Willenhall, will run sessions every Tuesday night at Tipton's Royal Society of Arts Academy in Bilston Road from 7pm to 8pm.

He hopes to add more classes in the future if the club proves to be popular.

He said: "The classes are open to men, women, boys and girls over the age of eight and I am qualified to teach both beginners and people who are more advanced.

"My daughter is disabled and she does Tae Kwon Do with me so I am able to teach other children who might also be disabled.

"I am confident that lots of people will come through the doors because it is a really popular sport and it's enjoyable."
