Not-for-profit organisation Black Country Festival Events is also selling mugs, key rings and stickers for car bumpers and windscreens and wheelie bins to build funds for the celebrations.

Its treasurer Steve Edwards, who also runs The Only Way is Dudley Facebook page, said all the merchandise bore the new Black Country flag.

"All the profits will go back in to helping put on events on Black Country Day itself – July 14 – and throughout July.

"The flags, T-shirts and other things will also get the message out about Black Country Day," said Steve. "There is a lot more interest this year and people are loving getting involved in the events that are being organised," he added. The Black Country merchandise can be bought at www.blackcountryfestivalevents.co.uk Flags cost £7 or two for £12, T-shirts £12 and mugs £6. Bin stickers are £1.90 and car stickers £1.20.

The Black Country Festival Events group is also planning to release new anthem I Vow to Thee Black Country as a charity single ahead of the day.

It is also working with a number of local breweries to produce Black Country-themed real ales to go on sale in the area's pubs during the month.

Among the events being planned is a celebration in Stone Street Square in Dudley town centre on July 12.

The Darlaston festival will be held from July 10 to 12 and is being organised by Darlaston Town Centre Partnership and Darlaston Events Committee.

The Willenhall festival is taking place from July 24 to 26 – organised by Willenhall Town Centre Partnership.
