Noel Hughes was delighted to get a birthday kiss on the cheek from the Wolverhampton star when he went to see her in the musical The Bodyguard in London.

The surprise birthday trip was organised by Mr Hughes's son Graham and his wife Jo Hughes.

Mr Hughes and his wife Barbara were taken to London and treated to a meal followed by champagne cocktails at the Savoy, and then the musical. This was not the end of the birthday treat however, as Graham had organised for his parents to meet up with 40-year-old Knight after the show.

Mr Hughes, who lives with his wife on Sandringham Road and turns 80 on December 10 said: "It was a fantastic day, and I am so grateful to my family for organising it. I love Beverley's music, and think she is such a great girl." The picture of them was sent to Star Witness, our new online showcase for readers' pictures. The couple who are parents of three and grandparents of three, first met Knight in 2009 when she was a judge on Featherstone's Got Talent which was organised by Graham.

Mrs Hughes, aged 76, said the competition was a real family affair and they enjoyed a meal with Knight and her family and friends. She said: "She was just absolutely lovely, and so welcoming. We had a lovely time."
