Entire England Cricket squad gay?

Steven Davies comes out as gay

England cricketer Steven Davies has told the world he is gay, writes Peter Rhodes.

Depending on the age of cricket fans, this will mean one of three things.

To the crusty old colonels and their ladies on the county scene, gay still means lighthearted and jolly.

To most  adults gay means homosexual.

And to most teenagers, it means rubbish, 'cos  England's performance since the Ashes is, like,  pathetic an' the whole England squad have been, y'know, just so totally gay, innit?

Pathetic article

Highlighting the difficulty of being gay in sport or the changes in the English language?

Is this the best the E&S can come up with? Never mind the nuances of a high profile sports man breaking down barriers, the bravery of a 24 year old guy coming out at the start of his career, the story of acceptance that has been offered from the ECB... no its a stupid pointless discussion of no relevance! Is this guy on work experience here or something. Did you even mean to publish this?!

Or is it that the E&S don't understand being gay, and thought they'd have a laugh about it?!

Peter, in opposition to the majority of the aforegoing commentators, I found your article neither obtuse nor derogatory.

Conversely, wouldn't it be nice if the same high accolades were accorded to those who 'come out' and admits that they are heterosexual?
