A former bank which has been empty for more than two years will be turned into a bookmakers if a plan gets the green light.

Barclays moved out of the unit at 69-73 High Street in Brownhills in October 2014 and it has been vacant since then despite being offered to let on the open market.

If Coral gets the go-ahead for their new branch, it would rebuild the building's shop front and fix two satellite dishes to its front flat roof.

The building is currently in 'a state of disrepair,' according to planning consultants Elias Topping who filed documents on behalf of Coral, and 'a high quality refurbishment would also therefore benefit this part of the (town) centre'.

A decision will be made by Walsall Council later.

An air conditioning unit would also be relocated to the back of the building.

The building's back office and first floor would be left alone with a view of another tenant taking those over in the future.

Walsall Council planning bosses will decide on the change of use application later.
