But this is a glimpse of the future of one of the region's biggest companies – and judging by the images, it's a future that is looking bright.

These artist's impressions show how the multi-million pound new headquarters of the West Brom Building Society will look, as it emerged that work to build the site will start in December.

Midlands-based firm Thomas Vale Construction was today announced as the main contractor for the 70,000 sq ft new building which will be located at Providence Place in West Bromwich town centre.

Construction is scheduled to start in December with an anticipated completion date of spring 2015, after which staff will relocate from the building society's current head office on High Street.

Planners at Sandwell Council approved the scheme in June.

Jonathan Westhoff, the West Brom's chief executive, said: "Thomas Vale is renowned for its ability to combine inspirational design, quality construction and project management experience of the highest order.

"After an extensive tender process, Thomas Vale emerged as our preferred candidate, reflecting their record and experience."

Mr Westhoff added that Thomas Vale will work alongside the existing design team, which includes Capita and Associated Architects.

The West Brom's new head office will accommodate up to 700 staff providing support for the building society's network of 37 branches.

It will also house an administration centre offering direct services for West Brom savings accounts, mortgages and investments. Mr Westhoff added: "With the announcement of the appointed construction company we are at a stage where people will soon see the development start to take shape."
