Insurance group HomeServe is to start recruiting staff, six months after it had to axe hundreds of workers in the wake of a sales and complaints crisis.

The company is to hire 30 new staff at its customer service site in Cable Drive, Walsall, to handle increasing numbers of calls from customers.

It is the first major sign of a turnaround at the business since it ran into trouble two years ago.

More than 700 jobs were axed – 300 of them in March.

Jonathan King, head of the UK HomeServe Membership operation, said in a recent Express & Star interview that the crisis had made it 'a better business' with complaints dramatically reduced.
