Lisa Finney, a Staffordshire University Knowledge Transfer Partnership associate who works with GDM Heat Transfer in Rugeley, won in the manufacturing category in The Marketing EXcellence Awards.

She was presented with the award in front of hundreds of marketing professionals at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Lisa, who is currently completing her MBA with Staffordshire University, said: “This is a great reward for the whole team who have worked so hard to build the company up year on year since I arrived.

“The competition was fierce and for a small outfit like us to come up out on top is a great achievement and one we are proud of.”

During her time at the Rugeley-based company, which manufactures and repairs aluminium heat exchangers, Lisa has championed new initiatives and overseen the creation of a new brand identity for the company.

Having generated £90,000 of orders and £500,000 of new business inquiries through the development of a new website, GDM has also seen their business grow 20 per cent year on year since undertaking a partnership with Staffordshire University.

GDM had approached the university to help develop a strategic marketing plan to achieve its objectives for growth and international expansion.
