Willenhall haulage firm reveals new £2m lorry boost

The expansion will see the creation of up to 30 new jobs at the firm. Aspray24, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, this year bought 50 vehicles for £2.6m from fellow Willenhall firm Greenhous DAF, taking its fleet up to around 500. But it will soon be buying even more.

Managing director Stuart Laight said: "This month we start work on phase one of our expansion plan, which will see us expand our Willenhall site by a further five acres with a high bay storage warehouse adjacent to the existing hub.

"With £5m investment planned for next year in a two-phase operation to ext-end the site to 18 acres, and a minimum investment of £2m into a further 50 plus DAF trucks, it looks set to be a very memorable anniversary year for us."

Aspray24 employs more than 600 people and Mr Laight today praised the business relationship with Greenhous.

He continued: "Greenhous has been an important commercial partner in our success from day one. As the business has developed, Greenhous has been a constant when it comes to understanding our needs, and supplying our vehicles. Over the past 30 years the team has changed, but the standards and ethos has never wavered."

Family-run Aspray24 bought the former site of George Carter Pressings in Park Road to enable the creation of the new 100,00sq ft base. The five-and-a-half acre site had been empty since May 2009 when George Carter closed down after 179 years of business, with the loss of 79 jobs.

Rob Binnion, retail truck sales manager at Greenhous's Willenhall dealership, added: "Aspray24 is a real local success story."
