Fish pedicure health fear closes Walsall spa

A spa in Walsall specialising in fish pedicures has closed with the loss of five jobs after reports of health risks scared customers away.

Tootsies, based in the Saddlers Centre, closed when daily customer numbers dropped from 40 to eight.

It comes after reports that the treatment, which sees fish nibble away dead skin, can cause infections

Manager Sharon O’Mara said: “When I came into work yesterday, the place was empty. The fish had been taken out, the tanks had been removed. I called the owner and he said it was closed.”
