More than 60 jobs have been saved at a historic brass firm in the Midlands after it was bought out out of administration, it can be revealed today.

McKechnie Brass in Aldridge, Walsall, has been sold to an as-yet unnamed new owner.

The company is the last remaining brass extrusion manufacturing firm in the country. Formerly Bolton Brass, it was established more than 140 years ago.

However, it went into administration earlier in the summer due to mounting debts – plunging the futures of its 62 workers into uncertainty.

Teresea Lee, from administrators Sanderlings, said today: “The business and its assets have been sold. McKechnie Brass is no longer in administration and the jobs of its workforce secured.”
