Brintons holds talks on future
Monday 25th July 2011, 11:31AM BST.
Carpet maker Brintons was today in talks about selling all or part of its business as it looks to bring new investment into the business.
The Kiddderminster-based company, which employs 1,850 in the town and at a base in Telford and Portugal, is reported to be looking for a new investor to secure its future.
It comes as accountants PricewaterhouseCooper have been brought in to try to secure funding, reported to be £20 million, needed by Brintons.
The company has a factory in Stourport Road, Kidderminster, and offices in the town’s Exchange Street.
In a brief statement today, managing director Don Coates said: “Brintons Limited confirms that it has received a number of offers from parties interested in making an investment in the business and has entered into a period of exclusivity with a preferred bidder.
“It is likely that it will be a number of weeks before any investment can be completed due to the time required to carry out legal and financial due diligence.
“For reasons of confidentiality, no further information will be released.”
