Car insurers aid for cancer charity

Classic car insurance brokers Footman James has been raising funds in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. more

The £432.31 raised by the Cradley Heath based firm has been added to fundraising from a new car show in aid of the charity.

Ian Macaulay, founding member of The New Unnamed Classic Car Group,visited the company's head office to receive a cheque.

The charity is close to the heart of one of the group's members who has a relative who has been diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a cancer that develops in the supporting tissues of the body.

Andy Fairchild, the managing director of Footman James,said: "We are absolutely delighted to have raised funds and we thoroughly support Ian's fantastic work so far in backing the Teenage Cancer Trust through his classic car group.

"Such community work – coupled with our passion for the classic car movement – is at the very heart of what we do." added Mr Fairchild.

The group, which was formed last year, held a classic car show on April 27 in Kidderminster.

It was attended by 90 cars and £701 was raised on the day.

Mr Macaulay, who arrived at Footman James' office in his East German Trabant to receive the cheque, said : "Although we were aware that Footman James were supporting our event, we were over the moon to learn that they had raised such a fantastic amount of money. Our total donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust now stands at around £1,150, an amount which has surpassed our best expectations. Needless to say, we are hugely grateful to Footman James for its support."
