The Third Battalion the Mercian Regiment (3 Mercian), the old Staffordshire Regiment, is in Afghanistan and keeping very busy, writes Peter Rhodes.
In the space of three days we heard from the front how:
*A 3 Mercian patrol seized a top Taliban bomb maker
* A 3 Mercian sergeant delayed paternity leave so as “not to let his men down.”
* A 3 Mercian lance-corporal used his survival training to kill and cook a turkey for the lads.
There is one unsung hero in all this.
Clearly, 3 Mercian has one hell of a fine press officer.

The soldiers of B Company 3 MERCIAN are doing the Regiment and their families proud and leaving a lot for the rest of us to live up to.
I have no doubt that there will be many more stories like this coming out over the next few months.

i would just like to wish all the lads in b’coy a safe tour and want them all to know just how very proud we all are of each and everyone of them im so proud of not just my brother pte daniel jones but each and every last one of our sodiers that fight for our country all the best lads keep up the good work have a safe tour best wishes kerry jones xxx
