The linesperson story will run and run

I HOLD no brief for Andy Gray but doesn’t it seem a little unfair to give a man a warning about his conduct and then sack him for something that happened before the warning? writes Peter Rhodes.

Not  that this female-linesperson saga is over.

The story has gone through the usual stages of disclosure,  reaction and retaliation.

Watch out next for the “well, fancy that” moment.

This happens when a bright young hack finds an unknown professor doing obscure research into the human brain who admits that, yes, there is a difference between male and female spatial awareness.

The prof will be horrified the next morning to find his picture in the tabloids under the headline: “It’s official – women can’t understand the offside rule.”

He will protest that he said no such thing but it’s too late.

This one will run and run.

Drivel from the Express and Star, so sexism in the workplace isnt important and can be justified?

Saying that a linesMAN can’t understand the rules is okay. Saying a woman can’t do it is sexist? Complete rubbish. She made the worst decisions ever seen from an assistant ref not because she is a woman but because she was, on the day, rubbish. Sacking Grey is so stupid it’s laughable.

This is just another sign of where our society is headed. Legislating about the way people think, which is what this is all about at the end of the day, puts these people in the company of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and certain radical “thinkers” from certain religions that we can’t mention because the E&S will censor it. Women are equally as sexist as men but we’re not supposed to say anything. Well I’ll keep saying whatever I want to until the thought police lock me up and work on me. Freedom!!!!!!

I agree with Mr Rhodes. Sacking someone for an offence before the fact smacks of hidden agenda.

Now that it is sexist to jokingly refer to lady officials concerning their competence, will the following scenario also be sexist.

Ladies out on the town for a hen party. One says to her mates ” I’ve left my husband looking after the kids tonight. It will be absolute chaos in the house, they will run him ragged. I bet he phones me within the hour! Ho!! Ho!! chortle chortle!!

Then we have the clutch of adverts on TV showing the men as weak and incompetent in various scenarios, relying on the women to sort out the problem.

Sorry lad’s it aint going to get any better. We are considered to be worse than useless to today’s empowered women.
