One Charles-and-Diana story you didn’t hear
Thursday 25th November 2010, 9:01AM GMT.
Back in 1981, swept up in the Charles-and-Di fairytale, a group of us hacks decided not to report the mutinous views of one chap in a bar in London, writes Peter Rhodes.
He was complaining bitterly that, just because this pair were getting married, he was expected to give his employees a day off with pay.
As companies start pencilling in April 29 as a day of zero productivity at full pay, I wonder how many bosses are seething – and whether their views will get the coverage they were denied in ’81.
