Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

So much to rant at – so little time!

The alleged Pakistani corruption story is exercising a lot of minds at the moment, writes our Grumpy Old Man Bill McCarthy.
As it is an ongoing investigation, I will make not comment, but it did not stop one of the giants of broadcasting casting some pearls of wisdom before us.
I listen to TalkSport I’m afraid. I am a sports fan, but dislike a number of their presenters because of their views.
I particularly dislike the Dumb and Dumber that are Alan Brazil and Ronnie Irani in the morning.
Brazil, the rotund Scot of the towering intellect was moved to comment on the alleged scandal after a news item.
‘I don’t want to be political. But Afghanistan and Pakistan, it’s just lawless,” he mumbled.
So we all know what he thinks about the case then.
Alan Brazil is an ex-footballer. Need I say more?

I have not read Tony Blair’s new book, but have seen several extracts.
It would be almost comical if it were not so pathetic to see him biting the hands that fed him.
It seems politicians of all persuasions can’t wait to behave like ageing strippers when the leave office and reveal all the distasteful bits.

A colleague recently challenged me to have a go at the greedy BAA staff holding the company to ransom with their cash demands while the rest of the country was tightening its belt.
You remember the BAA staff the people who earn usually a pittance, battling for living wage and trying to protect their pensions while some fat-cat bankers rake the cash in and dodge their taxes with offshore accounts.
Best of luck to the BAA staff I say.
It’s a shame Spitting Image is not around any more. God knows what they would make of the CamerClegg double act.
The show destroyed former Liberal leader David Steel as a serious politician by lampooning his as a puppet in the pocket of the SDP’s David Owen.
I liked Clegg during the election debates, his arguments against Cameron and Brown swept away the spin and economy with the truth and was a breath of fresh air. Since he got into government he has been a walking car crash, especially since being left in charge by his smug boss. CamerClegg is now more Camerkaze.
Compared to Clegg, Steel looks a giant of politics.

Now that cat dumper has bowed to mob hysteria and apologised for binning Tiddles, I’m trying to figure out why Britain is obsessed with its pets.
Our lives are run by cats and dogs, hamsters, goldfish, rabbits and guinea pigs. Holidays, days away from home, you name it, the welfare of the beasts seems to take top priority.
My daughter only has to go to the shops and she dumps fat labrador on our doorstep.
By the time it goes home, the garden is like a latrine, while our own cats prefer to leave little surprises in the house.
Is there any point to cats? What purpose do they serve?
At least you can train dogs for worthwhile tasks like guide dogs and drug sniffers.
But others are simply dangerous. My grandchildren recently witnessed a bull terrier attacking a cow in Sutton Park, sinking its teeth into terrified bovine’s face. It’s a good job the creature didn’t spot the children first.
It’s a pity it didn’t mistake the criminally-negligent owner for the cow.
