Police in Worcestershire have tweeted this image showing the aftermath of the crash near Ombersley

A driver has been left critically ill after a crash involving his car and an empty petrol tanker. It happened on the northbound A449 Worcester to Kidderminster road near to the Ombersley junction at around 7.50pm yesterday. West Midlands Ambulance Service said the driver, in his 30s, had a serious head injury and was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The lorry driver, in his 50s, was not injured.
