Wolves’ survival hopes took another dip as they suffered their third straight defeat and lost winger Michael Kightly to injury.
Blues made it five games unbeaten – their best run in the Premier League under Alex McLeish – to inflict Wolves’ eighth game without a win.
Kightly, on as early as the 32nd minute for Greg Halford, suffered what looked like an injury to his left ankle after trying to get around Liam Ridgewell on the touchline.
The much-missed wide man tried to battle on, but was clearly struggling and came off in the 66th minute.
Blues took the lead with the first attack of the game with just 125 seconds on the clock. It was a cracking effort too, Lee Bowyer chipping into the roof of the net from the edge of the area after Sebastian Larsson cut the ball back from the right.
The visitors continued to dominate and could have been three or four goals to the good by the break as Wolves, perhaps sensing the gravity of their situation after going into the game four points from safety, looked more tense and nervous than in any match this season.
Although Dave Edwards sent a free header wide from a Matt Jarvis cross in the best chance of the game along with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s late headed chance, Blues forced goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann into four first-half saves in his first Premier League game for Wolves.
Hahnemann was preferred to Wayne Hennessey, who was taking out of the firing line, in one of three changes made by boss Mick McCarthy.
But it made little difference as Blues were good value for their lead. Bowyer’s low drive, Larsson’s angled volley and Cameron Jerome’s shot all forced the American into falling saves.
The USA international’s best work was a superb tip-over, from a Bowyer shot that deflected off Kightly. The winger had replaced Halford, who was sadly below par apart from his long throws.
Wolves lacked any spark or creativity and just couldn’t keep the ball at all in one of their most ineffective displays for some time.
And this was the last game they needed to have an off-day, coming against one of their rivals in the battle for survival.
McCarthy’s men improved slightly after the break and Kevin Doyle almost gave them a lifeline with a left foot drive that flew inches wide within 30 seconds of the restart.
But Blues never allowed Wolves time to settle and the visitors rarely looked in trouble.
Wolves should have done better with two late chances, when Jarvis’s volley was denied by a flying save from Joe Hart, and when Ebanks-Blake in his 150th senior game could only guide a free header wide from Dave Edwards’s cross.
Christophe Berra then headed over from Nenad Milijas’s free kick deep into time added on.
The only bright spot for Wolves was the return of Stephen Ward – one of three left-backs used on the day by McCarthy – from the bench in his first senior game since August 22.

No cutting edge at all. Ebanks Blake, I am afraid, has gone from hero to zero. He was rubbish. Not all his fault but for how long does MM persist with him? Maierhofer and Doyle should be given a go.

One more game and then SACK mcCARTHY
He is out of his depth. I have said all season long that our midfield is dreadful. Get rid of HENRY and EDWARDS NOW.
Milijas looked different class yet again. He can pass, he can cross and he gets forward and supports the attack.
What the hell was McCarthy thinking of ? Halford, henry and edwards in midfield was an absolute joke. The team is a complete shambles.
It should have been castillo and milijas from the start.
I left 15 minutes early from this rubbish.
McCarthy has to go.

Surley that has to be the end now for mcarthy, watched it on the internet and what a totally uninspired performance. We will see this week if Morgan has any sort of ambition for the club, because under Mick it will only get worse. The January transfer window is going to be a complete waste of time considering the posistion we’re in now, we won’t attract any sort of quality…so do the decent thing now please Mr Morgan.

A number of them will not peak for a number of seasons, but the problem is as Wolves fans can we wait for a couple of years and yo-yo between the Premier & the Championship or do we kick them into touch, “Gamble” on a new squad and while we’re at it a new manager?

what a load of garbage…
Usually, I’m sort of a happy clapper always looking on the bright side…But there was NO bright side at all today. Not fight, no desire, no spark and it seems a complete lack of tactical awareness. MM has a 6ft8 centre forward on the bench and plays a long ball game with Doyle and SEB (Who i am not going to criticise because there was no service to them at all today)and then we wonder why we don’t get anywhere!
Stephen Ward looked fit when he came on and he looked like he could have played the 90 minutes, which would have made us more balanced in defence. Halford is a waste of space and money and i thought he thoroughly deserved to be jeered off (And i would never usually condone that).
Blues looked more solid, more confident and more dangerous than us all afternoon. And that is why unless we do something in January, and I mean something big, Blues will survive comfortably and we will sink without trace.
3 points and a good performance are a MUST next saturday cuz we sure as hell won’t get owt at Spurs and United.

After today’s result I think we are in a worse position than Portsmouth, at least they’ve got good performances and a new Manager to look forward to!
In such an important game thats the worst performance I have witnessed at Molineux. No time for sentiment, sack McCarthy and bring in Curbishly, who has good experience in keeping teams up (Charlton & West Ham). If we wait any longer we will go too many points adrift, then no one will want the job.

Sack him now and get someone in before christmas, to lift the players who I am afraid are devoid of ideas, clueless, no passion and it stems from the manager who goes to press and says we are in a relegation battle, how about saying we are in a survival fight. Awful game, fair play to blues, easily the better team. We havent got the players and they are all Micks signings, MORGAN & MOXEY a couple of mute muppets, speak up you must know that this manager is completely out of his depth at this level. No wonder Mimms & Evans jumped ship!

What a completly gutless performance, no passion, no desire, no idea, no attacking flair. It saddens me but on that display we are a certainty for relegation.
TBH I was baffled how we won the championship last year and our complete lack of class is certainly showing itself now.
The team played as if they are already relegated.

I am selfish and I don’t want to see Wolves drop out of the Premiership.
Yes, it would be nice to let McCarthy struggle and try to turn it around, but that would mean us missing the opportunity, as a Premiership club, of hiring an experienced manager who will have a transfer window available to improve the squad. I am thinking Curbishley or someone of his ilk.
Mr Morgan, if you let the club drop down then your investment will have halved in value.
The main cause of Wolves woes for the last decade has been Moxey, and it is reasonable to replace him with somebody more able to compete in the Premiership arena.

Bad result no question. Next two games are going to be very interesting now. Have to agree with other comments on here and in recent posts that attracting any quality players in the January window is going to be difficult especially if we are cut adrift..which unfortunately is happening right now. Personally I’d be surprised if McCarthy goes.. they may play for damage limitation.. go down with a healthy bank balance and parachute payments. If he does.. the next two games may well seal his fate. One thing does make me wonder though.. that is the financial state of a lot of the lower end premiership clubs. How deeply leveraged are these teams. Ofcourse ambition is so important but to what extent during very worrying financial times! Anyway.. lets keep fingers crossed for the next two games!

As a Wolves season ticket holder for more than 20 years, rarely have I left the stadium more infuriated, baffled and dismayed from such a shambolic apology for a performance.
Wolves were outthought, outbattled and outsmarted by a hard working, but still distinctly average Birmingham team. Make no mistake, we are doomed to relegation.
And why? Because “super” Mick McCarthy clearly only lives up to his name in the lower divisions, and quite clearly doesn’t have what it takes to be a Premier League manager.
The players were today quite clearly under orders to pass it tediously left, right and left again across the back, before launching pointless long balls in the direction of our two vertically-challenged strikers, who barely won a header all day.
No wonder the midfield appeared non-existent – they spent most their time watching the ball sailing over their heads.
Perhaps this is what happened when McCarthy took Sunderland up. He was found out for what he is – tactically wanting – and they went down without a clue.
It appears that McCarthy doesn’t have clue what his first XI is. Matt Jarvis is impotent, Karl Henry a yard too slow, and our defence is terrorised by anyone showing the merest sign of impish pace.
If McCarthy really does want to play the long ball game, why keep beanpole Maierhoffer on the bench? Or why not stick Christophe Berra up front, since he’s the only man who seems capable of winning a competitive header?
Burnley have decided that all-out attack is the way to stay in the league, while Birmingham have opted for the solid defence and difficult-to-beat approach. Will someone please tell me what the Wolves policy is, because we’re incapable of doing either of those things.
Tomorrow, chairman Steve Morgan should invite McCarthy into his office, thank him from the bottom of his heart for getting us out of the dog-eat-dog Championship, and get on the phone to Alan Curbishley or Steve Coppell. Or even invite Graham Taylor to put right the biggest regret in his club managerial career.

I’m sorry to say it I really am but I totally agree with you.
SEB is just not effective in this league, you cannot foul defenders in the box and expect to get away with it, replace him with Keogh or the Hoff ASAP as they will both be a pacey partner for Doyle at least!
We should spend NOTHING in January as it will be a waste of money, if there was a game to show our spirit and passion then this was it and we didn’t. When we are relegated (not if) we will need some money for new players when other teams cherry pick the best players from our squad.
As much as I realise this is a totally negative view it’s also the only real outcome I can see.
This MUST WIN game wasn’t and that says it all really doesn’t it.
Berate my negativity all you want but deep down any true Wolves fan knows I’m probably going to be proved right.

so far i have happy clapped my way throughout an entertaining but sadly disappointing premier league season.
the lack of passion, bottle, skill and to be quite frank, ideas has left me bitterly upset and fearing for our chances of still being in the mix come christmas.
nobody is going to want to sign for a team so far from survival but something must be done because that was a very average championship side that we fielded today and any fool could have told you prior to kick off that it just would not be good enough.
the romance is over, the investment once again has not been there, with portsmouths rumoured millions in January we surely must be favourites to finish rock bottom in quite dramatic fashion!!!!

I agree with richwolf that milijas needs to start. We are so short of creativity. Id switch to 4-5-1 and give him the freedom to roam ahead of henry and castillo. I cannot understand why so many people get on Henrys back. For me he has been the only one of our players who has stepped up to the premier league.
As suprised as i am to say it, i would bring keogh back in. We have looked at our best this season with him playing with doyle and SEB is really off the pace.
My team for Bolton would be:

henry castillo

Morgan – time to make some changes to the management because it is the only way to improve the club. No decent player will join us in January in the state we’re in. It will be easier to get a new manager who can motivate the players than to get in new players.
Mick, Connor and even Daley can go. I see no passion from the latter two during a game at all.

Well the situation already looks hopeless! We cannot score goals and we also seem to be able to concede them at will – after only 3 minutes this time.
Mick McCarthy has some serious thinking to do and so do his players for the squad is woefully short of both class and experience.
A gap has developed between us and the 4th bottom and it is going to get ever greater if we continue like this.
I am totally astonished that throughout the game we managed only 2 shots on target!
If this is the best we can do then we should fly the white flag in surrender because we will go down and very quickly!
Morgan must decide if he will provide some hefty cash for McCarthy to bring in experienced players, IF they will come that is, and try to get us out of this mess and that may well mean breaking our transfer record to do so!
I will not accept that we have time to put things right because although it only November, we all know that time is running down and the reality is that we are a poor team, are not good enaough for the PL and in the process we are making ourselves a team of pushovers!
Supporters from other clubs can wish us well but that will not disguise the fact that we are rubbish. We are basically a Championship club in a league where we do not belong.
The next few games may well decide if Mick should resign or not because otherwise he will certainly be adding to his CV yet another ‘relegated from the PL in 2009/10′ comment!

IT’S TIME TO ACT:
Sadly MM & the coaching staff are out of their depth. MM is repeating his performance with Sunderland. It is in everyone’s interest that he goes now. Playing the role of a bluff, gruff Yorkshireman will lead to relegation. MM’s negativity has rubbed off on the players (look how he talked up the merits of Portsmouth and Birmingham before the games!). The players must be going onto the pitch thinking they’re playing Real Madrid rather than moderate Premiership opposition.
Buying several players for around 2 million each has simly created a large, average squad.
Better to have spent 6 million on the likes of Huddlestone (look how he’s playing now, and he was available pre-season) or Johnson (Birmingham paid the asking price and look how few they concede).
Go now Mick and let’s see if we can attract the likes of Coppell or Curbishley before someone else snaps them up.

Couldn´t watch the match, not shown on ESPN in Brazil, so kept reading the live commentary on internet.
To say somewhat dissapointed is an understatement, I cannot comment on players because I didn´t see the match, but from what I have read and the other comments posted here it is time for Mr Morgan to bite the bullet and stand up to be counted!!!! is he pationate about Wolves. If he is he will get out from under the comfortable quilt and start to plan how he is going to keep Wolves in the top flight, I am afraid the only way I can see that is if their are some radical changes, ie keep the ground staff, the janitor and the tea lady and get rid of everything else including Mr Moxey who said we had spent enough money to keep us in the Premiership. Now Mr Morgan where are your loyalties, to the comfortable bank account or take the bull by the horns and get some quality players who will have to work miracles to keep us from going down. I still have some sympathy for M.M. as he can only use the tools he has at his disposal, okay he may elect to use those tools in a totally different way to the rest of the supporters, but give him the likes of a Man City to manage and he would do as good a job as Mark Hughes who has more money to throw at one player as we have to buy a team. So give the manager a better set of tools and see what he can do with those. If not we will certainly be in the Chamhpionship next season albeit with a healthy bank account sufficient to pay the bonuses for a loosing sides management.

watched the game on the internet, and i must say what a poor performance from wolves, i would have thought that being a local derby and playing at home the wolves players would have come out fighting. But all we got was a pathetic display of a team low on confidence, and obviously from their body language they have already accepted that they are going down.
You have to seriously ask the question does MM really have what it takes at this level, some of his tactics are quite baffling, like today just thumping the ball up field in the vain hope that we may get a goal, when its plain as day that our forwards need the ball to there feet, the B’ham defenders must have thought Christmas had come early. I really cant blame blake and doyle as they just didnt have any service today, and to be honest all season so far.The players in midfield just dont have the class to compete at this level, the players that MM have signed apart from Doyle cant cut it in the prem. So its not looking good i think we are definatly going down, but what really hurts is we are gonna go down not fighting but with a whimper…PATHETIC

NO.13 Yes we were happy, but I think a lot of us knew Mick wasn’t the man for the job in the premier, he should have been paid off when we got promoted, with a big thankyou. Loyalty to a manager is one thing but blind loyalty is a different and dangerous thing all together. Morgan reminds me of Gibson at M,boro a lovely bloke with a big heart but too soft to run a football club…this is a ruthless business. And why oh why is it that every time we change managers the coaching staff seem to remain the same in the whole, surely this defeats the object of change in the first place. I was a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years but just can’t afford it anymore, family comes first, but my love and passion for the club is still alive and kicking.

The way we played to day was a disgrace I don’t hope we hear “they put a shift in”. For the last few years whoever the players or Manager we never seem to be able to pass a ball to a Wolves player, this team does not have any bite or creativity to it, no leader on the field. why do we keep putting high balls up to the front two when they are out jumped and outsmarted? If we have a 7foot player why not play him? we need foley, Zubar,Castillo Elkobio back in their best positions, drop Craddock, Henry & Edwards, restore Stearman to a centre back position, with possibly Manciene, and look for a Captain centre back in January. I now need to put ashift in changed mine for to-day… We are in trouble guys and would pass these comments.
Why does MM persist with EBB clearly not up to it and why such a weak halfback line.. Halford is no fighter..
If and only if we manage a couple of wins before Christmas should money be spent-We are in trouble none of our players appear apart from one or two to befit for prem duty..
I hate to say this but we need to build for the drop if we fail to win our next two games…Really I am devoid of feeling.. I think MM has lost the plot completley which is more the pity–Crazey Dave

Well Mick we were mullered again, as we have been by all of the relegation candidates to visit Molineux so far this season. Answer these questions and maybe we will understand;
Why can’t you, of all people, put a decent defence together?
Why did you buy Halford and Meinhoff?
Two simple questions which could possibly throw light on a bizarre situation.
Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I wasn’t so totally besotted by this football team. Yes Mick, it’s easy for you and your bunch of mercenaries. You just go home to your plush houses, we hurt for days.

Hate to say I told you so, this was so predicatable – are you happy clappers still calapping. We have been let down by the 3 M’s. Muppet found clueless again with tactics and selection. Remember the quotes from Muppet & Moxey before the start of the season:
We have laernt from last time,
We will invest in experience
Job done
Spin and rubbish, wake up Wolves fans we are doomed under the present regime, they are useless NO AMBITION and NO IDEA. MUPETT OUT NOW!!

Very disappointed. The players that MM (and the fans) thought were going to set the premier league alight have grossly under achieved. Amazing how a player can shine so bright in the Championship but look so out of depth in the Premier?
We are now in a “catch 22”. We need new quality/experienced players to help in the relegation scrap but we find ourselves being cut loose at the bottom of the league. We’ll have difficulty attracting any player worth a decent wage if relegation is imminent.
If a decision is to be made on MM’s tenure at Wolves it needs to be done now. This will give the new manager time to look at the squad and evaluate exactly what needs to be done when the transfer window opens in January.
I’m trying hard to keep the faith; there is still a chance but time is running out. Burnley and Bolton are now “must win”. The fate of the club may well be decided by 20 December after the Burnley game; that being the case I believe we’ll see damage limitation and building for next year’s promotion battle in the Championship.

watched the game on internet and same old same old! Where are Morgan & Moxey now? very vocal pre-season spininng this n spinning that! Lets invite them to comment now on here and see what they have to say 4 months on?!!!!!Moxey says it is the clubs policy not to say who they are going for or how much they are paying! What a bloody cover up! Its because to avoid criticism of pursuing cheap players! After all its just business isn’t it Moxey? U n the rest should now resign and clear off and take Mcarthy with you. No tactical clue at all after todays rubbish. been a fan man & boy n fed up with false starts & fine sentiments from the board. Oh why did you sell the club Sir Jack to a bunch of accountants who have no knowledge of the game and fans passion for this club.
SEB u aint good enough mate might be a place for u at Torquay! Doyle again the only one up front but no service! Milijas quality! Henry, Ward etc collect yer P45′S on monday. We are in a relegation fight now and it is back to where we belong. Dont know what to think about buying or trying to buy new quality prem players in Jan 2010 it seems throwing good money after bad. Best keep yer wallets bulging Morgan n Moxey! We need, as i have said before a complete and total regime change at the sacred ground & we can only do it by fan power on here mainly. Surely there has to be person/s out there coverting the WWFC. we have a fan base second to none and a fantastic ground all we need is someone with passion, focus committment & a willingness to put this club on a good footing. We are going down with based on todays performance no fight at all.
MMM OUT NOW!

In the first half alone our Manager took off Halford for tactical reasons (he should never play another game for Wolves anyway) swapped the left and right back over, then substituted the new left back Mancienne at half time (if Ward was that fit why didn’t he start?)
Do you think they practised in training this week every player in every position because the boss is clueless and dosn’t know where to play them??
We look like total amateurs at the moment in every way.
This is shaping up to be worse than 03/04 where we very badly let down. This time there was more money but arguably even less direction than before.
The last three games we’ve lost without a fight and without a clue.
Not good enough.

I said this before the beginning of the season.Mad Mick’s forte is the championship, many clubs would welcome him. Wolves and Moxey are tight, they won’t invest big time. The attitude seems to be that if we survive then we can spend money, but let’s see how the young team does first.
Too late!
The owner paid peanuts for the club promising to spend if we got promoted. We did, did he?
Think BIG, think Man City. Why are we always negative? Trying to stay up instead of challenging for a top 6 spot. I never hear the likes of Villa or Spurs even mentioning staying up. Its embarrasing.
Many players here are very good Championship material and sorry but thats all. Kightly looks out of his depth. This league is different class you can afford 1 or 2 newbies developing on the bench but not in the first team.

There is no justification for the performance and result.
Mick’s had his chance despite his awful premier league record as a manager. Thanks for getting us up but now go, there’s no shame in that!
We need a new manager and ideas and players in jan otherwise we are down. I think the sensible option would be curbishley, but there’s also Coppell. Both would be better than what we currently have.
I can’t stand to watch another game under Mick now, it’s too frustrating. The players have lost cofidence and self belief.

Kiddywolf,, you need to wake up. We are going down with Mick at the helm. We need a manger who will instill passion, knows what he is doing, players can buzz off him. Look at Mcliesh, the players want to play for him, Wolves u can see that players like Henns, Halford, Ebanks, Berra looked across at Mick looking for inspiration, but he just looks like a man devoid of ideas! Mick did a job and got us up, He fullfilled his 3 yrs plan. We should have thanked him and moved him upstairs and let someone who has premiership exp to manager the wolves and move us forward. Remember this team is Micks team and looked amazing in a poor championship league, but the players he bought in the summer have not added nothing apart from warming the bench. I like Mick, honest bloke, but I love wolves and love the club with all my heart and its heartbreaking seeing players struggle, We needed exp in that side and there isnt anyone there to look up too.

Open letter to Messrs Morgan & Moxey,
Dear Sirs,
When Wigan lost last week after a gutless, pathetic and indifferent performance last week, their Board decided quite rightly to refund the fans. Seeing as Wolves performance ,or lack of,was akin to that of Wigan, would it not be the right thing for you to do the same. Sirs, you are very lucky as we are some of the most passionate fans in the Premiership,a passion our players seem to lack, but our resolve is being tested to the limit.
Yours, disgusted and disgraced.

Simple question: Which 3 teams are going to finish below us this season? I’m struggling to name 1! If we lose to Bolton at home, I’ll start preparing for championship football. On a positive note, if we kept the same squad and added as few young up and comers (Like Simon Cox), I’m quite looking forward to it. Premiership is overated anyway :-)

Berra – Very clumsy , not convinced
Craddock – Did a job today ! didnt do anyfin wrong argueably wolves best player 2day !
Jarvis – Overated , didnt take on stephen carr once. Lacks quailty and final delivery
halford / kightly – Halford offical donkey shouldnt be anywhere near the 1st team
Kightly OVERATED ! did nothing when he came on
Miljas – Shows quality on the ball , able to pick a pass !Only player that looks liek doing something decent on the ball
Henry – AWFUL needs to be stripped as captian its like the blind leading the blind with him as captian ! no distribution , cannot create anything.
Edwards – is a tryer needs quialty and distrbution !
SEB – cannot play upfront with doyle , its hopeless just hoofin the ball up to them !
in there defence didnt have a chance to impact the game due to the constant long balls but needs to take his chances when he has them
Doyle – Again 1 of wolves better players , tried and did the best when the ball was hoofed up to him !

I’m sorry that was a disgrace we finished last season in better shape than Blues and Burnley but it is now blindingly clear we have been left way behind, if the club are serious I’m afraid we need a change now, I don’t think it is emotion talking but it seems the management are not up to it at this level, tactics, selection, performance etc… have now been poor for some time barring the 2nd half at Stoke and away to Everton which now look like flukes. Curbishley in now or the club come out and say they are happy to go down and try and keep bulding by yo yoing like the baggies (who went down looking far better than us), that might be good enough down the road but it cannot be viewed as acceptable here. Worse then Jones who to be fair did not have the options or finances MM has had this year.

MM will never have big named players at his club simply because he can’t handle most of them. He likes his yes men around him where he feels comfortable. Anyone who criticises his methods he falls out with, he really is like a child. Players who know their way around this league wouldn’t last 5 minutes because they would soon realise how inept he is in this league. Big names, no forget it, this club wont go for them until MM has gone.

Simply Awful Today
No method of play what so ever & that’s the sickening thing, our starting line up was strange to say the least, McCarthy under pressure ain’t good I said many times last season he doesn’t help the team at times & today was no exception, What was Halford doing??? And he actually looked disappointed to be fetched off.
We have been so bad down the left side of the team all season that I was actually pleased to see Ward come back.
We just can’t keep conceding early goals & expecting to pick up points, why did Bowyer have so much time to do what he wanted???
Lets see what happens against Bolton, but another clueless display & the board have to be asking some serious questions if they want the club the stay in the prem.
Still at least we’ve given the steptoes something to smile about & lifted the gloom in their sad empty pondy lives, mores the pity!!!!

Tactically we dont know what we are doing, players are all out of place, stearman left back, mancienne right back what a bodgejob. we should have bought 2 premier league fullbacks during the summer. Nick Shorey’s just gone out on loan cant believe we didnt get him mick! class leftback. Mick and the whole backroom staff need to go, morgan stand up and be counted for, we need an experienced prem manager who knows how to win games, curbishly or coppell please. We are going down at this rate if morgan doesnt do anything about it, spending money on a casino and building upto 40,000 when we havent got the team is suicide. No ones gonna be at molinuex next season if we play like we did today no passion, no desire, no fight. SAME OLD SAME OLD MICK, WE NEED FRESH IDEAS!

The stupidity of McCarthy copying Stoke and reducing the pitch width and signing Holford for his long throws has blighted us. Holford is a waste of time, but more important we had a team with two flying wingers and that was out strength. Now they don’t have the space to work in, and we are having to resort to high balls down the middle, to our small forwards.
McCarthy is a disaster, and the sooner he and the man who interviewed and appointed the last 6 managerial failures both go, the sooner we can try and turn around our season.

Mick has to adapt his tactics to who he is playing, not just keep trying to play attacking football all the time. We need to kick people off the park at the Mol show more passion!
Why not play Keogh behind Doyle & SEB and make Karl Henry into a Definsive midfielder? as all he seems to do at the monent is go backwards, he is no captain why not give Craddock that role?

Football is a simple game, you try to score more goals than the opposition. To score a goal you must direct the ball towards the opposition goal either with your foot or your head. Will someone please explain this to Mick and his squad. It also helps if you don’t give the opposition a goal start because you have to do the above to get anything out of the game

“Craddock. Passes to Berra. Berra now out to Mancienne. Mancienne back to Berra who passes it to Craddock. Craddock passes it to Stearman who kicks it long. Throw in to Blues.”
Listening on the radio I think this was our highlight in the first half. I might be wrong though. It may have been
“Berra passes it to Craddock who finds Stearman. Stearman plays it back infield to Craddock who finds Berra. Berra picks out Mancienne who plays it long. Throw in to Blues.”
Whichever it was we sounded so poor today that even Robbie Dennison couldn’t find anything positive to say. Even against Arsenal we had a go. Against Chelsea we defended poorly but created a couple of chances. Today was the first truly unacceptable performance from the side this season.
Now we’re not even ‘putting as shift in’, when Mick can’t even inspire the players to at least do that then what is the point of him? Also has Connor got a contract for life? Is part of the contract for any new manager, that they have to keep Terry ****wit?
By the way, Morgan and Moxey were absolutely right when they said that we wouldn’t do an Albion, the Boggies were twice the side last season than we are now. I actually thought that we would stand more of a chance of staying up than Burnley and Blues, I obviously underestimated the genius that is Mick McCarthy, and the burning ambition of Morgan and Moxey. Now my mates are starting to laugh at me. We are now officially a laughing stock.
Thanks Mick.

I was there today and I have never seen such a bad peformance by Wolves in all my time of visiting Molineux, i left the game heartbroken. After the goal went in there was nothing, its probably the quietest Molineux has been all season. And the players were rightly booed at half time and full time, and Mick McCarthy doesn’t deserve to be hailed as Super Mick during these times! This is the first time I have bad mouthed him. And as for Ebanks-blake, he looks way out of his depth! There’s something not right, why isn’t Keogh playing? Why hasn’t Maierhofer had a chance? Why is Milijas warming the bench when he’s our best player? Where was Castillo today? Why didn’t we sign a new left back in the summer? Why isn’t Zubar playing centre half? The tatics are dreadful.. We’re going down unless a miracle occurs.. Get your cheque book out Morgan and give all us Wolves fans what we deserve!!!

The answer is simple Mick; play your best available team every week, in the positions they are skilled in. No favourites, no grudges, do what’s best for the Wolves, not what ensures that you are still in charge!!!
Play round pegs in round holes and square pegs…. you get the picture.
Next Saturday, pick a team on ability, not favouritism….

Foley
Craddock
Stearman
Ward
Edwards
Milijas
Castillo
Jarvis
Doyle
Keogh (I was his biggest critic, but without his work ethic we have gone backwards since he was dropped).
Mick – tell them to play the ball to feet, the wide men to stay wide and everyone to shoot on site from 20 yards out.
Have I missed anything?
Oh yes……play with passion for the Old Gold and Black, unless you think that your manager doesn’t deserve to be in a job, in which case, carry on the way you have, and watch YOUR employer sink without a whimper……”we have learn’t the lessons from last time”…….I think not.

Worst performance by a Wolves team that I have seen for may years. Steve Morgan should have had the P45’s for MM and his coaching staff ready by half time.
I said last week that MM and the players needed to step up to the plate and show they are good enough for this league. What a response! worse than ever.
Never the same team two matches running and seemingly no tactics practised in training.
Clearly Halford, Ebanks Blake, Kightly,Edwards and Henry are not going to deliver in the Premiership and its time that Milijas,Castillo and Maierhofer are given an opportunity. They may not be up to it either but you can’t judge them when on the bench or in five minute desperation substitute appearances.
Tony Daley may have the players physically fit to play in this league but they don’t have the same thinking speed(it’s MMs job to develop that) and dwell on the ball far too long.
MMs decision to reduce the pitch size was not the best ever made. How many goals have we scored from those long throws – one – and we have lost the space that Jarvis and the wide players had last season. No wonder they are so ineffective.
Come on Steve Morgan live up to what Sir Jack thought you could bring to the Club and invest in players who can keep the team up. Speculate to accumulate… Its no good in the bank if the team is relegated- you will lose a lot more that way.

The worst performance I can remember since we lost 2-0 at home to Reading when they were promoted and Hoddle was still manager.
It was wrong to cheer when Halford was taken off. He wasn’t any worse than the rest and didn’t deserve that. Kightly did nothing anyway.
I thought Stephen Ward was our best player today.
Hard to see how we’re going to stay up with no tactics and poor team selection.

Can Abu Dhabi bail us out too? I can remember watching Wolves years ago and thinking how crap Jody Craddock was – worse player in the team – now he’s arguably our best. We have come far. We should just get used to playing in the Championship. We could be a profitable club. That would suit our current board. We might do ok. Tick along. Watch the top four Premier teams on TV. We don’t have the funding or acumen to compete in the league we are in. We are cannon fodder. Let’s have no ambition – we don’t have any at the moment. We don’t have any heroes either – where’s our current Bull, Dougan, Richards – players wanting to wear the old gold and black? If we want to be up there where we used to be – we need a wealthy owner – not a builder. Who said Morgan’s investment is halved? – so that’s down to a fiver now?? – Joke – and we’re mugged again. That tinpot team was far to good for you lot, one of the easiest games we have played this season.
Can we play you every week.

What are the chances of Bolton beating us next week and a certain Davis scoring? That would sum us up!

Its not rocket science, Mick McCarthry is not up to the level required for Premiership survival. To put it bluntly he is tactically inept. He made two changes today which worked Hanneman and Mancienne. However we do not have a midfield that can create and therefore our forwards are starved of any service. Surely if you have to take someone off after 30 minutes you are not up to the job, Halford must have been furious. Milijas must be a regular starter and Castillo must play the anchor role. Get Keogh back and drop SEB, as he is off the pace. All we are saying is give us a goal. From one of thousands of disappointed Wolves fans.

to put it bluntly we were atrocious! No desire, no imagination and no creativity. An absolute shocking team choice by McCarthy althou I did agree with the decision to bring hanneman in. Not because hanneman is the better keeper but because hennesey was going through a drop in form and this is when you bring in your experienced goalkeeper. However thatis about as far as it went in terms of good managing from McCarthy. When we came up we were a swift ball on the deck team. However that playing mentality has just gone out the window. I think McCarthy looked at how well stoke did and how they played and tried to emulate that. In doing so however hes turned our players into a team that they’re not! Ever heard the phrase square pegs in round holes? Burnley have kept the same team week in week out and have played as they did last season because it worked last season and that is why they are doing so well. The players we have could keep us up this season if they are allowed to play as they are able to play although there are a few players available in january which couldnt hurt i.e anton ferdinand, david wheater, nigel reo coker and joe ledley. However we all know how stubborn mick is and now he has started trying to teach the players to play this way he wont suddenly walk into training and say you know what guys this way of playing is actually crap so go back to how we did it last year. Therefore i see no other option but to sack him before it is too late. However slightly contradicting myself i would give him the bolton game to save his job. Heyit seems to have worked for phil brown at hull!

We were promoted with our best performances coming in the first half of last season due to attacking wing play.
Mick decides therefore to narrow the pitch and tell us all how we need to change our style for this season – maybe for the top 5 or 6 teams but we should be trying to impose our game on the rest of the league.
The season before last we failed to make the Championsip Play Offs in an a very poor league partly down to his constant changing of our strikeforce – now he constantly changes our team each week. Mr Morgan you need to be brave and make a change now.

Watched delayed coverage on sky this morning here in Auckland. The worst half of football I’ve seen from Wolves this season. You have to worry about a manger when he has to swap his full backs and make a tactical sub in the first half hour of a match. And how many times this season are we going to let the opposition trap the ball on the edge of the area and pick their spot under no pressure? Try a new manager and beat Bolton or we won’t even have a relegation fight on our hands……just relegation.

Left home at 0830, spent nearly £100 on tickets, petrol, sundries, to come up and see my team put in not just the most inept and clueless performance since Hoddle’s time, bit also show no fight or passion, pride in the shirt or respect for the fans. Why ? We showed more passion, attack, bravery and nous in the first 20 minutes against Arsenal, and first 5 minutes against Chelsea, than at any time against Brum , who were inferior opposition to both those clubs.
There is not enough experience in midfield, where we need a Bowyer, Ferguson, Carsley, Butt or Scholes, and no leadership throughout the team. I except Craddock from that last remark, but for some reason, Henry is the captain on the field. How would you know that, if he wasn’t wearing the armband ?
6 years ago, we had 4 leaders on the field, Irwin, Butler, Ince and Rae. Now, we have no-one, really.
That was the most gutless display from Wolves for years. Mick has to tell the team we have 3 games to save ourselves from inevitable relegation, and instruct them to throw their bodies into daring tackles and interceptions of hard shots, free-kicks,etc. In other words, play like men.
Also, what’s Halford for, apart from long throws ?
Today, I was ashamed.

When I said on molineux mix that MM shouold be thanked and paid off after the QPR game and a Premiership manager like Allardyce appointed, I was lambasted mercilessly.
Now it seems you are coming round to my ay of thinking.
I expected us to be beaten against Arsenal, I ex[ected us to be beaten against Chelsea- but I didn’t expect the defence to be starstruck and back off so much.
But I never expected us to be beaten by blues.
This manager has no idea tactically. The fact that three different players occupied the LB spot today is proof enough of this.
This idiot MM plays RB at LB and LB at RB and wonders why they can’t play to their strengths.
SEB is not good enough, loan him out somewhere. Recall Vokes and Ikeme- who I think is our best goalkeeper.
MM has never had any idea as to who his best side is- we fluked last year.
We also have no bottle, Henry is from West Park isn’t he, so why is he such a pansy?
We continue to jockey, jockey and get no tackles in.
Will we all be called muppets next week if we lose to Bolton and sing for the managers head?> Hopefully he will walk before that.

what an utter gutless, spineless performance from the players,we created nothing and the defence once again is utter garbage cannot concentrate, let another goal in after only 2 minutes and should of been at least 3-0 down half time.i know we have a championship team playing in the premiership but i expected better.are they still playing for mm? look at burnley mostly championship players but boy do they fight and how is it they seem to have more quality and score more goals and compete much better than us?is it the manager, why did mm persist in playing 2 short strikers and keep pumping long balls up to them when blues have 2 6ft 5″ centre backs and we leave our nearly 6ft 8″ striker on the bench?the managers tactics leave a lot to be desired, why can we no longer pass & retain the ball?in my opinion mick has wasted the best part of £18 million (except for doyle)on utter garbage lower league players who are nowhere near the standard required.if i were s.morgan i don’t think i’d give him another penny but having said that jez and sm agreed to sign these players themselves so should also be held accountable so this provesin this league you get what you pay for,pay peanuts you get monkeys.

Worse performance of the year best describes this latest performance.Early goal yet again put us on the back foot and you have to ask why is our team not switched on for games like this which are so important for our survival in the Premiership as we were flat from the very start and we were there for the taking and I blame MM for this his job amongst others is to make sure the players mindsets are right before they go out onto the pitch but this seems to be something that he can’t achieve and our results prove this to be the case.Sad to say but the writing is on the wall we are totally inept are playing liked a relegated side and if we continue with playing this sort of rubbish we will be the first team to be officially relegated.

Other than Foley who I don’t think is ready, that team is spot on. I could never understand why MM dropped Keogh – his work ethic and nouse on the pitch is second to none at the club. People who slagged him off knew little about football in my opinion.

I’ve backed Mick all the way from being hired till now, and what he did to save the club from doing a Leeds in 2006 will never be forgotten. But I don’t think he’s the right man for the job anymore. If you can’t score goals against the likes of Pompey, Brum & Hull, let alone points, then you don’t deserve to be in the Prem. We’re going to need to beat Man U, Man C, Villa, Spurs etc to stay up if we can’t even compete with those teams at the bottom – i.e., no chance.
Birmingham and Burnley are where they are now because they know, and field, their strongest team. We won’t field the same team two games in a row this season, mark my words.
Many more results like today and we’ll be needing snookers by the middle of January.

Well, I think the views are unanimous!
I have never knocked MM but, after today, I have to say that enough is enough. Today is, I suspect, a defining moment in the future of MM and some of the players.
Too many poor performances, although the players are required to stick to the set tactics.
I see Mancienne played in 3 different positions in the first half and was substituted whilst not injured! He was, probably, our best first half player!!
It was clear at the outset we would struggle.
Why did we have, arguably, our best 2 midfielders on the bench in Milijas and Castillo?
Why did we lump the ball up to our medium height strikers Doyle and SEB when they were marked by central defenders who were nearer 7′ tall than 6′?
Why did Halford play? The long throw was never doing to trouble such a big defence, and that’s all Halford appears to have!
Why didn’t Mierhoffer come on when we played the long, high ball ALL THROUGH the game?
When the midfield did get the ball, it went sideways or backwards nearly every time.
MM is one dimensional and appears incapable of changing tactics during the course of 90 minutes. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know his best team and it showed today that he has reached his limit……

There was an interesting comment I heard from the comfort of my armchair when the SSN reporter talked about Doyle booting the ball away in anger towards the end of the game.
He said that Doyle is a proven scorer at this level, he was getting absolutely no service, was no doubt frustrated, and the referee took no action because he probably felt sorry for him.
At full time when the boos were broadcast live to the home of every footie fan in the country, I did think ‘oh dear’.
As fans, our team lost the supposedly ‘must win’ match.
Alas, it sounds – and looks from comments on here – as though the management and much of the squad has accordingly lost the supporters.
I don’t think the squad will turn it around and the understandable reaction of supporters will only increase in volume.
Can’t see any money being spent, so I only see one thing.
We’ll be back down in the Championship come next season.
Sad, but realistic.
Never know. Christmas is supposed to be a time of miracles. But I don’t see it.

Todays performance is a very fair reflection of were we are going unless mad MICK is shown and the door.Since last january we have been building to this.Of course we got promotion but check the results of our last 22games in the championship and performances.
I can take defeat like most WOLVES fans what I cant and wont accept is our disjointed performances there is no method or system to our play and this was not just today but as been apparent in numerous games backend of last season and carried on this season.
Its as if these players dont train and work together this is a major major concern.HOW many chances have we created as a team in the last 8games? how many goals have we scored?
We look a mess this is the reality. Why do we play so poorly I cant beleive that management cant see this. The team have no system no plan no idea …they all look confused and run around like headless chickens….Sorry MICK you have to go along with MOXEY CONNOR AND DALY IT IS A MUST.

We’ve been useless in derby games since Magoo was in charge-MM made cardinal mistake of labeling this as just ‘another game’; well, this was the worst derby performance i can remember in 30-odd years. Other than sentimentaly, it’s hard to make a case for Mick staying on as manager; it’s patently obvious that he doesn’t know his best team/formation- his initial selection today was woefully negative and the substitutions that followed smacked of desperation. The board need to act decisively and QUICKLY; if Mick’s to stay on, they must demand a quantum improvement in performances, as relegation under the current circumstances could only engender disunity and catastrophic loss of confidence. Otherwise, a new man should be introduced while we have an impending crop of winnable-looking games and well in advance of the transfer window. As things stand, who of any quality would sign, even if we were to trust Mick with more money?

A championship manager, yes, a premiership manager, definitely not, his record with sunderland, put down to a lack of funds, he certainly can’t say that about being here at Wolves. A lot of his after match comments leave a lot to be desired e.g. ‘we got mullered’ his comment from the Arsenal game, its his job to ensure we don’t get mullered he really does seem to have shown he has very littly clue about the premier league.

Utter rubbish today! No passion,no fight,no gameplan,no starplayer or players,no tactics, baffling team selection again!
It`s been obvious for most of this season,(and last)that team selection and tactics have resulted in a thoroughly demoralised squad, completely lacking in belief and confidence! This can only be due to a poor management ethic, relying on favourites not form, predudice not performance.
We now appear doomed unless Mad Mick & Clipboard Connor are paid off and replaced A S A P with a proven Prem. manager,Curbs.or Coppell.

I have never been one to jump on the sack the manager bandwagon or start slagging off players but enough is enough.
We play chelsea and start with a 3 man defence !! we then play Blues with 4 central defenders in the back 4. A useless idiot who should not even be playing championship football on right midfield (halford) , a left winger who is just not up to it and a centre forward who is not – at this moment – good enough for premier league football.
We have Foley who was player of the season last year and cannot get a sniff, Keogh who whilst some fans dont like him, was our best player in the first 6 games – cant get a sniff and a manager who appears to be tactically inept.
If you were Steve Morgan and you have seen him spend money on Surman, Milijas, Castillo, Maerhoffer, who between them cost over £10 million and aint even playing – together with Halford and Berra means we haVE £15 million worth of talent earning between them £200K a week and for what – the only team in this division who will finish below us if we are lucky is wigan. Sack McCarthy – Get in someone who is blessed with half a plan at least !!

Watch now as Moxey will start to distance himself from MM. There will be no real cash made available in Jan because he will believe that the current squad is good enough for the Championship.(which is true)
So who next for Jez? Who is the manager that is going to give him another couple of years and be able to get those season tickets renewed in June because lets face it that seems to be the only requirment he will be looking at when making his next appointment.
MM was a good choice for a championship manager I can’t dispute that, but JM surly must have seen his record in the premiership which is why I was puzzled by his appointment.
In my opinion, questions need to be asked of the CEO based on his past experience of selecting managers. I hope Mr Morgan can also see that!

IMO The championship is a poor league. Sorry Wolves had a run of 1 win in 11 last season and still when up in that league which says alot.
The board are gutless & spineless. Morgan has not spoken since the summer, I wonder way. Moxey is mugging us off and MM is nothing more than a joke manager who has 1 way of managering which is to be happy for his players to run around like a headless chicken and put a shift in. All team can have runners but we need skilled players with it. I am still angry with that team performance yesterday. MM you have had enough time to get more points on the board ie Pompey, Hull SHOULD HAVE BEEN WINS. We messed up and yesterdays game is clear for most wolves fans to see that you are not capable of keeping wolves in the league. Sorry an honest chap you are MM but your football brain is left in the 80’s and its time for you to do the decent thing and resign because I cant see Moxey & Morgan sacking you because it will mean they will have to pay up your contract!
Now I am off to work to listen to the blues fans gloating!

The only way a club with the limited finances that we have (20 million quid left after the summer spend) is to have a manager that can inspire ordinary players to overachieve. Mick is not that person. Bring in Coppell as he been doing it all those years with Reading and is proven.
Or another way would be to get in a wealthy patron from overseas and build a team like how the top half of the Premiership do it. But not with MM in charge of course.
A club with such a great history, ground, fans and brand identity should be able to attract someone with deeper pockets than Morgan.

Away from home we win at Wigan and could have nicked a draw at Man City with 4-5-1 so we dont play it again .It also leaves Milijas out in the cold as its the system that will suit him most.

You have to lay some of the blame here on the club acquiesing to the epolice demands for a 12md ko.
This meant that we had to drive up- as I expect many others did as there were no trains to get us to Molineux before 12md on a Sunday- great for the carbon footprint.
Further this meant we were all up at 6am on a sunday- thanks a lot Wolves.
When is the chamber of commerce going to stand up to the police and insist that they police the matches whenever they are due to be played not when the police want them played?
Pubs going out of business at record levels, not allowed to open til 1220 yesterday, the city centre boarded up wherever you look, it is atrocious that the police are allowed to dictate in such a manner- with the threat that the license may be objected to if they don’t comply.

Our two tactics appear to have been centred around Halford, yet we took him off after half an hour (not that I’m disagreeing with that decision).
Tactic 1) Clear the ball long to Halford to win the header.
Comment: We have used this a lot this season and it takes 5 minutes watching Wolves to realise we do this. It might work against a vertically challenged full-back. Blues played Ridgewell there – Halford won 1 out of 10 headers which went for a goal kick.
Tactic 2) Chuck in the long-throw at every opportunity, in a Stoke/Delap type way.
Comment: Could work but Stoke challenge for the ball when it’s flung in. We didn’t – not the first ball or the second. Not once did we challenge for the first ball, not once did we win the second ball
Can’t think of any other tactics we had yesterday.

I am disappointed like every other wolves fan, but you can not fully blame Mccarthy. I personally blame Morgan, I would love to know where this 30 million + sky funds + trf fees have gone, it certainly hasn’t gone on the pitch. He too busy with dealing and trying impress corporate people, and is forgetting about the true fans.
Yes I know that nearly all of the summer signings was on the bench and that the side on the pitch was mostly the championship side the got us up, but you have to question how much money did McCarthy have to play with and how much Morgan needed the fund elsewhere, we all know haw the housing market as been and still is.
I just hope, whatever happens to management, that Wolves find a way out of this situation, but like all other wolves fans it’s looking grim

Should we expect any different? After Halford went off we had only one player on the pitch(Doyle)who had been bought since promotion. The blame for this mess lies squarely with the management.
Morgan(A staunch Liverpool fan)has not done too badly out of this.Owning a premiership club which still has £25 million in the bank, sounds good to me. A shrewd business man ,he is now heavily involved with Redrow again,so he cannot be devoting the time that is needed to the club. This means Moxey must be running the club on a day to day basis. The thought of it sends a shiver down my spine.Nothing more than a glorified accountant who is good on the radio.Would make a good politician.Time and again people on this site have praised him saying the club, due to his efforts, is financially stable and we dont want to do a “Leeds”.With the greatest respect to these people, with the amount of money Sir Jack and Morgan have injected into the club over the years, anyone with a financial background would do a similar job. Finally we come to the third culprit, the manager. It is a great shame ,because he performed miracles to get us promoted with average championship players and for that reason alone deserves to be kept on for the rest of the season. The big mistake he has made is believing those players(Henry,Foley, Jarvis etc)would be good enough for this division. In addition he is tactically naive and is a poor premiership manager(His record proves it)and the players he has purchased in the close season are poor.
So what happens when we are relegated? Morgan needs to decide where his priorities lie.If ,as I suspect ,they are with his building company he should sell up and we can get someone who understands football.Their first two decisions should be to sack both Moxey and Mccarthy

I’m sick of clueless fans who have come out today and said ‘Don’t blame McCarthy’ ‘It’s not McCarthy’s fault’
Well I’m sorry, but who’s fault is it? Who picks the team? Who controls the training? Who motivates the players for a big game? Who signs our new players? Who is responsible for building the players confidence? This is ALL down to the Manager of the team.
Mick McCarthy has no attributes to manage at this level. It is PROVEN. I want him out ASAP and I would love Alan Curbishley down here. He wouldn’t stand for a performance like that on Sunday.

The irony about yesterdays defeat was that the two central defenders for the Blues could have beeen at the Wolves if Moxley had matched the Blues offer to buy them. We therefore go and buy other inferior players because it was cheaper so we are now sinking faster by the game.
The management and coaching staff are beyond belief they have no aim or plan when thay take to the field,MM one plan boot the ball upfield and we might get a lucky break, they try and pass the ball to each other and all they do is play three touch footbal and get closed down by the oppostion, are they capable of one touch football ? NO.
Finally I staed last seasson that we were in the end lucky to go up because we scraped through some of the games by the skin of our teeth and were lucky to win someof the games. Norwich went down and thrashed us!!!
MM must go along with his coaching staff if we want to have any chance of surviving and making Wolves a proud club again instead of the whipping boys.
Why has FOLEY not been given a game he is the one class player we have he must have said something to MM about his team selection!!!!

What would the point be in sacking the manager now? – no point and not the answer. You should all know by now that the difference between champ and prem league is huge. We simply do not have the kind of funds to compete in this league. We are doing the best that we can do. Is it good enough? No it is not. Will we survive? Yes I think we will.

I actually like Mick as person and think he did a really decent job getting us promoted (with some good fortune I hasten to add).
However the statistics speak for themselves. He is just not a Premiership manager and neither is he a lucky one.
He has had as much money as Coyle and co to spend, so there are no excuses. He hasn’t spent our money wisely, can’t seem to put out a settled team and doesn’t even play half of the players he has bought, who with the exception of Doyle, Zubar and Castillo haven’t improved the starting eleven from last year.
If we are to have even a miniscule chance of staying up, Mick has to go now and we have to spend big in January having picked up points in December to have a chance.

I am normally a manager backer on here, normally support Mick and his merry men to the hill…. but!
I can no longer argue with Bob/Southbank…even Jiwal!
Wolves were rubbish, it was the worst game I have seen since Hoddle was in charge. Wolves lacked creativity, lacked passion and above all lacked any sort of quality.
I know service is what a Striker needs, but Blake was dire with Doyle not far behind. Neither troubled the back 4 once, neither had them moving around, neither won a thing in the air either.
I can’t believe I am going to say this, but bring back Keogh who atleast gets the ball upfront!!!!!!!
Midfield, well what can you say. Kightly and his glass body breaks again, no point relying on him this season, let him get fit.
Jarvis while looking menacing at times fails to deliver.
The central midfield, well what a pile of dross they were again. Henry must of let his early season form go to his head, Bowyer and Ferguson ran him ragged yesterday. I like Edwards, I love a box to box player, but come on, running isn’t everything. He can’t pass, he can’t shoot!
The defence looks a joke the more we play and I really think we over estimate our keeping department a little too much.
As far as I am concerned its…
Taxi for Mick asap

Quite a few knee jerk reactions on here. Yesterday was a disgrace, right from the team selection to the changes in formation and personnel (Halford) and the lack of desire and passion in the first half. It was a bad day at the office and I can understand the fans unrest and anger, but is sacking Mick really the answer?
Look at Hull a few weeks ago, it was as though Phil Brown was a dead man walking but a few results later and it’s totally changed. What we need is to re-group and go back to basics and please Mick pick your best team with players playing in positions they are capable of making an impression in.
It’s not the time to panic guys, now is the time to get fully behind the lads and raise the roof against Bolton. Please KEEP THE FAITH.

Message to Steve Morgan:-
We, as Wolves supporters will support our team through thick and thin, hopefully you already know that BUT we will not continue to be subjected to performances by a team who do not show any enthusiasm, confidence or guts on a match to match basis. Also we do not want a manager who displays an obvious persona of being tactically inept at Premier level, spends multi-millions on players to better the squad but does not play them regularly PLUS he gives statements to the media about what other teams do and how good they are when he should be talking about Wolves and ONLY Wolves!
Not one single Wolves supporter will tell you we expect to win the Premier League, nor will one single Wolves supporter tell you they expect us to even finish halfway BUT what they will tell you is that they expect Wolves to give 100% in all games and to give it a real ‘go’ to stay in the Premier League.
So far all that has happened is – the manager has tinkered relentlessly with the team formations, has tactically got it wrong in almost every game and again, just as in the previous seasons resorted to playing players in any position but their preferred ones – yesterday being a typical case in point with a left back playing at right back and vice-versa – UNBELIEVABLE!
As the owner of this fine club YOU are in the position to change things around and put the club back on the straight and narrow and by this is meant saying to Mick McCarthy, ‘thank you for everything you have done Mick, you got us promotion which was what we wanted but I am sorry, we must say goodbye because clearly you do not have what it takes to keep this club in the Premier League’.
To do anything else and that includes leaving McCarthy’s staff in charge even for one more week, will show your intentions quite clearly, that all of your pre-season comments that you really ‘care about WWFC’ were in reality, just media ’speak’!
Action is required NOW before we are condemned to Championship football next season. For let me put you in no doubt whatsoever for is that is where we are heading if McCarthy and co remain at the helm for any longer!
Should you feel that the Championship is our rightful place then make a press statement to that effect and all supporters will know where the club stands and will make their decisions as to their future allegiance accordingly.
Furthermore, you will have noticed that the ground was not as full as could have been expected yesterday for a local derby game and come the next game against Bolton, the ground be even less so!
Defeat is hard to take at any time but if beaten by a better team when we have given our all does offset the disappointment somewhat but lack of effort, tactical mis-management and being totally inept will not wash!
So to repeat, ACTION IS REQUIRED NOW otherwise this club will be relegated and IF you seriously care about WWFC then you will do your damnest to see that that does not happen but to do nothing will surely see us playing at Derby, Scunthorpe and Preston (no offence meant to those teams) etc next season – and do you really want to be travelling to those places instead of Anfield, Old Trafford, The Emirates Stadium etc.? – No, I don’t think so but the decision is yours Mr. Morgan – DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO MAKE IT?

What a write-off yesterday was, from the time we got up and set off at 8.50 a.m. in driving rain to the time we returned in the evening, again in pouring rain. The bit in between was even more dire. No passion, no belief and, as a result, a sense of growing dejection around the ground. Never mind talking about the quality of the premier league, just compare us with the other two teams that came up with us. Look at the points difference. Look at the respective write-ups in the press. We had the better infra-structure, the better bank balance, possibly greater stability within the club; certainly a better fan base on the whole – and for what? I wrote optimistically some days ago that as long as morale did not dip, we could pull through. I was going to hold my peace until after Burnley. Following yesterday, I fear that morale has indeed dipped. Listening to Mick on the radio did not inspire confidence either. Even though we have been plagued by injuries, our team is chopped and changed. Never settled. When we were promoted, we knew players would come in. I wondered who would make way for them and anticipated a few of last season’s stalwarts would have to sit on the bench. I did not expect to see so many newcomers come in and then not be used, or hardly used. Why bring them in? I hope that it was not because of some Plan B to develop next season’s Championship team for our third attempt at getting back. I wish we knew more about Messrs. Morgan and Moxey re. their intentions – I want to know exactly where the basis for blame really lies. Nathan Lloyd, you were lucky you missed this game.

Team selection – what was the thinking to play halford, who has done nothing all season? In a game we had to win why not start with Miljas for his creativity or castillo.
lack of mental toughness, we went one nil down and i didnt see any response
Total lack of confidence passion and pride.
Lack of creativity and quality
Edwards and Berra poor finishing all season. Unfortunately good chances have fallen to these dummies who seem to have a nosebleed when it comes to finishing in the box.
SEB really lacks sharpness and so far cant get a yard on any defender in this league.
Why not give the hoff a game
When kightly was injured why not take him off straight away, as we have other big games comin up?.
This team mirrors the manager who was a really hard working, effective no frills defender, who may have been mentally tougher than his players but lacked technique and skill like they do.
As a manager you are responsible for your signing and he’s spent millions on average players like Halford, suman, who add nothing to the squad and are not good enough.
we all konw were in a relegation dogfight but when your not able to compete with your opposition you have no chance, and question marks around the manager must be made.

From my earlier comment..I think this season is definately about damage limitation..Wolves as we are led to believe have a healthy bank balance bolstered by premiership tv revenue. Working on the 07/08 season Derby picked upon 29.1 million for finishing bottom with parachute payments amassing to between 6.5 to 11.4 million for the first 2 seasons out of the premiership. Interesting to note Boltons 08/09 accounts showed that although they finished 13th in the league, they lost 13.2 million and there net debts rose to 64 million. Personally, this brings me back to what I said earlier.. just like our economy.. I think the state of a lot of the lower end premiership teams is dire.. a bubble ready to pop. No wonder a two tiered premiership has been touted. Damage limitation with just a slight sniff of survival? We’ll see shortly!

We are now in a worse position than in 2003/04 season with less points and we have no Paul Ince or Denis Irwin to lead us.
Mr Morgan now is your chance to take tough decisons and be a leader start by sacking Moxley,McCarthy,Clipboard bring in Gordon Strachann or Steve Coppell and make funds availiable in January.A wise man only makes a mistake once, backing Moxley who failed in keeping us in the Prem last time would be a grave error of judgement.

275 Andy I agree after 1 game it is irrational, but I’m not talking about one game I think we have to look at the big picture and the big picture for MM at this level is not pretty reading in fact it’s more frightening than a steven King. I’m all for loyalty and MM achieved something that looked impossible but everyone has their ”ceiling” and it look clearer every week that bossing the CCC is his I’m afraid. If only Veneables hadn’t been out of the game for so long, I think a wheeler dealer type with loads of contacts, shrewd tactician and no doubt a good man manager those are the characteristics we so desperately need. I’m am here hoping and praying and supporting MY TEAM to the end, I just hope that end wasn’t a foregone conclusion before a ball was kicked!!!

It is about time the club had a total clear out in the back-room staff. Terry Connor has been around years and kept on, but he is obviously inept tactically and getting the best out of players.
Our fitness coach is Tony Daley!!!
Then back a new boss with getting some quality in, rather than the usual players that run a lot and put a shift in, which is what seems to please Thick Mick – oh as well as players saying’ yes boss’ to him all the time.

You didn’t say top teams……
Anyway, I ain’t sticking up for MM here, just you said we hadn’t “Even in the Championship” just merely saying we had.
Anyway our performance against the top 8 teams last season was:
Played 14
Won 5
Drew 3
Lost 6
If you want a convincing win to prove they did well last season, 3-1 wins away at Sheff Utd and Preston…. ??
All I am saying is, you can criticize the ongoings of this season, but you can not criticize what MM and the team did last season.

Well almost 300 comments-thats got to be a record and that says it all!!! Firstly we shoot ourself in the foot every home match by not generating an intimidating-UP FOR IT atmosphere,i cringe every time i hear that Hi Ho Silver (Aston Villas match day song by the way)-BRING BACK THE LIQUIDATOR-lets get some atmosphere at the ground!!! Its already been proven and is now being proven again McCARTHY CARNT CUT IT IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!-thanks for getting us up Mick, but with the exception of Doyle the signings are rubbish! We’ve been crying out for an experienced midfield ball winner who can pass(ALAN SMITH,Newcastle),our midfield is powder puff! But who has McCarthy been watching???-SIMION JACKSON at Gillingham!!!-no dought another ‘young and hungry’ player!-they are no good to us now,we need ‘BEEN THERE-SEEN AND DONE IT’ players, experienced Premiership players to bring our young squad on.I Realise that we are millions of pounds behind all but 3-4 premier league teams-theyve been getting £50m per season since the premier league started, but the fact is we battered Villa a few weeks ago yet the performance against Blues was a shambles.Yes they wernt much better but they are in the same boat as us,its points that count now and them and Burnley are miles in front of us.After the next 3 games we could be 10-12 points adfifft of safty-less than half the season gone and only Chelsea or Man U form can save us!!! McCarthy must go,no room for sentiment, remember last time we went down and even worse the times before that!!! I DONT want to see Steve Coppell here-he keeps walking out of jobs, dont want Ince either(think Blackburn!).Maybe Curbishley, lets see who applies before its too late.

237,Sevlow Seems to me that 98% of posts disagree with your way of thinking. Why should MM Remain in the job with his record at premiership level.Does not know his best team,Started with 4 CBs yesterday,3 LBs appeared at sometime during the Game,( NOT ONE A recognised left back).Championship midfielders at best no service to front 2.If you are happy being made the laughing stock of the prem then you my friend are not a true supporter.
So you say 98% disagree with me? That does not concern me at all because from reading some of the comments on here most of the posters on here have no idea whatsoever regarding football.
So we let MM get us into the prem and then after a run of bad results we sack him? Maybe he should have been sacked when we had that very bad spell last season? Nonsense talk
Laughing stock? We were always going to be one of the 2nd class sides in this division.
Not a true supporter? You have no idea what you are talking about making statement like that. I first watched Wolves away to Blackpool in 1959 and I still support the Wolves and always will.
A lot of posters on here are too fickle, you either support your team or you dont. You cant just be supporters when the going is good and everything is nice and rosey in the garden. You have to back them 100% when the sh*t hits the fan, not run away bleating about it.

one last point, I respect the positive comments, like birmingham having one of the best defensive records in the league, which is true.
But the problem is we still need 6-9 points by the end of the year to have a fighting chance of staying up. When you lose games like this in the way we did, you just double the pressure on yourself. I predict a very nervy performance against bolton. with portmouth v burnley, brum v wigan, we could be bottom of the table of we dont win.
What was disappointing yesterday was the lack of fight, and the continuing tactic of kicking the ball down field to two relatively short players.
However it is confidence – look at the Fulham match where we ran rings around them, and they are not a bad side. Also remember Birmingham were in the Premier league only a season ago, and have added to that squad over the past 18mths.
Wolves need to accept their status in this league, play not to get beaten (and put a team out that is built around that plan). At the moment we put out a team to play attacking football (maybe not – to compete?), and leave ourselves open defensively.
Changing the manager and looking for a big spend in January, ain’t going to make any difference (unless we can find a midfield general). The people who are calling for Mick’s sacking are probably the same who were calling for his sack in season 2 (and even last season) – unless there is a really good alternative, stick with what we’ve got.
Anyway I have my season ticket, so I’m in for the fight!
Chris

We were attrocious at Chelsea (I’m sure Moxey would have given us our £47 back if we’d lost 9-1!!!!!) and worse against Birmingham. Looking at the demeanour of a number of players, I fear MM is losing the dressing room. Foley is fit, but not even on the bench – perhaps his fall out with MM a few weeks ago explains this – he was our player of the season last year. Mancienne hasn’t recovered for being blamed for Henry’s mistake against Blackburn and looks totally uninterested and Halford’s refusal to shake MM’s hand when he left the field says it all. There are too many “favourites” who are either not good enough or under performing – SEB must come out – no goals from open play this year says it all. We needed at least 7 out of 9 against Blouse, Bolton and Burnley and we’re chasing our tails already to get anywhere near that. There’s no method or cohesion in the team and Henry can’t even look after his own game let alone that of 10 others on the pitch – who started the rumour about him playing for England? Terry Connor probably. Morgan needs to decide quickly what he wants to do – we need to at least beat Bolton and Burnley for him to even think of avoiding giving MM his P45 for Xmas.

if comment 277 really is mick then i talk on behalf of the 98% of comments on here, you do not have our backing anymore, for gods sake you play 4 centre halfs at the back, what a fool! you shorten the pitch down and spend 4-5 mill on halford, mairhofer to do a stoke and ruin what we had last season. our wingers dont have space to get the extra yard on defenders and we are left with playing long ball to small fowards. You had the chance to sign some quality in the summer, Nolan, butt, scholes, gardner, shorey, ledley, anybody, jesus even ameobi would have scored more the craddock by now. Your running outta ideas mick. Do us a favour at least show up against bolton we want to see some fight, at least give us that if your not going to RESIGN & TAKE CLIPBOARD AND MOXEY WITH YOU

Winslow, I understand the need for a wheeler dealer type with loads of contacts, shrewd tactician and no doubt a good man manager…..but is there one out there? I mean a real stand out candidate who can give us a better chance of avoiding the drop. Im not sure there is.
I know it’s an age old argument but Mick was working at Sunderland with one hand tied behind his back and although some of his recent transfer dealings have to be questioned (Halford, Surman, the Hoff) he has also stated publically that he was interested in players of the calibure of Dunne, why wasn’t he backed?? Surely the money men should be held accountable also, perhaps Moxey has reached his ceiling?
Let’s not panic, what we need is a win (and quick!!) to keep ourselves in touch. Can I currently see 3 worse teams than us in the league? Maybe not currently, but less than month ago I probabaly would have said yes. Things can change quickly. If after Bolton and Burnley we look doomed then maybe changes will need to be made but we are not doomed yet.
Mick needs to organise this team better, let’s get in the faces of teams (like we did against Wigan, Fulham, Villa 2nd half, Everton, Stoke) and play players in their correct positions.
As you said rightly….lets continue to hope and pray and support our team when they need it the most.

We need evidence of true leadership out there on the pitch – a driving force a la Ince/Rae. Someone to urge the team on when times are tough; someone we supporters can see actually see doing it.

Changing the manager will not affect the outoome of this season, as by the time any decision is made to sack MM, find a replacement, install him at the club and for him to get to know the players well enough to forumlate some tactics, it will be February, and too late to save this season. Unless someone can inject some creativity, spirit and have-a-go mentality, which in turn will bring in some much needed self-belief, we might as well all give in to the doom and gloom and relegation mentality that is dominating this thread. Come on Wolves! What’s to lose? If we are going to go down then I for one would rather see us fight every week and lose 5-2 (a la Sunderland) than just get laughed off the pitch for losing 1-0 to minor neighbours.
One life, one club. Come on you Wolves.

Think the clueless players and management should take a leap out of Wigan book and give every fan a refund for that gutless performance. Zero passion and zero quality. Magic Mick’s prem record speaks for itself and surely his time as come or atleast it will be when Bolotn take all 3 points next week. Mick as good as relegated us when he choped the bloody pitch in half thus takin away all last years quality that our wide players Foley/Kightly Ward/Jarvis gave us. Team selection completely baffling, Berra Manciene Halford Henry Edwards SEB all look lost on the pitch. Why persist with these players they lack quality, passion and confidence champ players at best and that questionable. Just look at yesterdays bench personally i’d say all of the 6 outfield players should be starting and add alot more than what started.
Morgan time to get ruthless and give us a fighting chance. Get mick and his sub standard staff out get curbishly in a proven prem manager. Give him money to spend on 3 or 4 good prem players that are better than what we got and not just squad players who can put a shift in. my team for sat would be,
Hahneman
Foley Stearman Zubar Ward
Kightly Castillo Milijas Jarvis
Hoff Doyle

Face it, Blues beat Wolves without being at full throttle. They have played much better this season. It was an easy victory. McCarthy was out thought by McLeish, Wolves players couldn’t match up in quality, ability, intelligence and bottle. McCarthy is taking another team down.

Wolves blundered badly by letting Dann and Fox join Coventry from Walsall Coventry could not afford to keep them and now they are starring for their respective clubs. The great Brian Clough built his teams on a rock solid defence and it now seems that McLeish is endeavouring to go along the same lines.I take no pleasure from seeing a fellow midland team struggling but I can’t help feeling that Wolves are following the same unsteady path that my club took the year they went down and sadly it appears to stay down. However I can’t help feeling delighted for Dann and can see the day coming when this young man will don the full England shirt

I don’t know who annoys me most, the team, the management or some of our fans.
Fact – pick whatever team you like – there is only one premiership quality player – Doyle. Those people calling for Castillo, Maierhoffer, Zubar etc – they ain’t gonna change a thing – they are no better than what was on the pitch already.
Fact – sacking MM will have no effect unless we clear out the coaching staff FIRST.
Sack Moxey? and how exactly is that going to win us football matches? – He is a businessman and he has made us a profitable and succesful business[has everyone forgotten our bhatti days?] Obviously its his fault we never signed Ronaldo and Robinho – get real, we can splash all the cash we want – players aint going to want to come to a relegation candidate[which we were pre-saeson and obviously still are now]
We should get in a new coaching team who can start planning now for the championship next season and who can get the best out of our young players and bring in a few more hungry players.
Also the reason we pass along the back four and from side to side so often is because the front two never move! they never pull defenders around and they dont work as a team – always side by side and not one in front, one behind. And we dont pass and move we pass and then stand still. Coaching my friends – did you notice the blues coach telling his midfield what positions to take up in play? u never see TC do that do you?
