Injured striker Ishmael Miller has set a January target for his return to Albion’s promotion push.
The 22-year-old hopes to get the all-clear to resume full training when he visits his consultant in a fortnight.
Miller believes that could clear the way for a return to action before the end of January, having not played since damaging a cruciate knee ligament last December – an injury that recurred this summer.
He said: “It’s going well. I’ve got to see the surgeon in two weeks and hopefully he will give me the go-ahead to start training again.”
The Baggies forward returned to his sporting roots yesterday and met youngsters at a Sporting Club Albion basketball session.
The club now offers coaching at Sandwell Academy in sports other than football, and Miller played basketball at school.
He added: “I love basketball. I loved it when I was a kid and I still watch it now.”
