Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has been backed by manager Mick McCarthy – despite his goal drought.
The forward prepares for his 150th career appearance in Sunday’s noon derby against Birmingham looking to make it a Second City double, after getting his first Premier League strike with a penalty against Villa.
But after a prolific season-and-a-half, the double Championship Golden Boot winner is still to score in open play this season. Yet McCarthy is confident Ebanks-Blake will rediscover his form.
The manager said: “You just have to keep working at it, don’t you? You have to keep grafting, keep working and eventually it will come.
“To play against Chelsea who have not conceded a goal at home in 10 games was always going to be tough for him. But he kept going, did 65-70 minutes and put his shift in.”
