Murray waiting on scan

Wolves Reserves V Blues Reserves - Matt MurrayWolves keeper Matt Murray has undergone a scan on his troublesome right knee as the club try to diagnose the latest blow to hit the luckless shotstopper.

Murray lasted just 23 minutes of his comeback from a ruptured patella tendon eight days ago in the reserves against Birmingham, almost a year since he last played.

Boss Mick McCarthy is hoping the news is good, saying: “He’s been for a scan on his knee but I haven’t had the results of that yet.

“There’s no long term fears as far as I’m aware, but we haven’t had the results yet. I’m not going to try to second guess it – let’s get the results first from the experts.”

Murray’s condition means he misses the chance to test himself again tonight when a young Wolves reserves side visit Tipton Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

“I need to speak to the physios and see what’s happening, so he won’t be playing tonight,” added McCarthy.

The news on Murray comes as Wolves’ third-choice keeper Carl Ikeme has been linked with a loan move to Sheffield United.

The Blades have Paddy Kenny suspended for a year with his drugs ban and veteran Ian Bennett struggling with a thumb injury.

Ikeme is currently on a 28-day emergency loan at League One side Charlton where he played his first of three games on October 31.
