This is the dramatic moment a drunken woman collapsed into the path of a train before the driver slammed on the brakes just inches from her head.

The amazing footage shows the woman apparently unsteady on her feet as she peers down an underground tunnel at a station in the US city of Boston.

She then falls onto the tracks and rolls around between the lines for a few moments before she stops moving altogether.

Other passengers frantically wave at a train which is pulling into the station before it stops perilously close to the 26-year-old woman.

The woman only appears to realise the danger after the train has stopped.

She staggers to her feet before falling over again.

Other passengers then haul her up onto the platform.
