Wolves have revealed that they will not host a capacity crowd this season because of safety reasons.
Molineux’s capacity was boosted by around 850 to 29,303 in the summer with the temporary seating in the corner of the Billy Wright and Jack Harris Stands, but they will always fall several hundred short of that. Chief executive Jez Moxey said: “Even if the game is a sell-out, as a result of recommendations from the club’s safety advisory group, certain sections of seats are not available for sale.
“As one example, if visiting supporters are situated in the lower tier of the Steve Bull Stand, the back two rows (428 seats) are not put on sale to ensure sufficient segregation from the Wolves supporters housed in the executive boxes behind.
“While the attendance at our previous home game against Villa was 28,734, there were only 100 seats spare rather than the perceived 600 due to the various restrictions decided upon on a match-by-match basis.”
* Wolves’ trip to West Ham has been moved a day to Sunday, January 10 (1.30pm) for Sky TV coverage. Wolves have just under 300 tickets left for the trip to leaders Chelsea on November 21.
* Boss Mick McCarthy admitted he took George Elokobi out of the firing line against Arsenal to give Richard Stearman his first start at left-back. “George has been having a bit of a tough time,” said McCarthy.
