I could be axed admits Iwelumo

WD3438007@90-WMS-RESERVES-4Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo admits he could be axed against Arsenal admitting Kevin Doyle and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are favourites to lead the line on Saturday.

Iwelumo made his first start in almost seven months in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at his former club Stoke.

Ebanks-Blake was dropped for the first time in his Wolves career to make way for Iwelumo, despite scoring his first goal of the season in the previous game to rescue a point against Villa.

But the Scotland international, who needs one goal to make it 100 in his career, knows there are no guaranteed places and admits he could make way.

The forward said: “I think Doyle and Sylvan are the frontrunners at the minute – they have done well and I thought they were fantastic against Villa.

“But the manager doesn’t want it easy for anyone to keep their place, so it’s up to myself, Keogh and Maierhofer to step up and show what we’re about.

“I’m looking to stay in the team and now I’ve got myself in there, I want to get the best out of myself.  I’m taking it one game at a time, but I’m chomping at the bit to show the gaffer what I’m about, so we’ll see what happens.

“It’s up to whoever who can show the gaffer what they can do to get the shirt.”

    Completely off the topic:

Molineux is one of the most distinct and beautiful Stadium names on the planet. Can you put any sponsors name alongisde it without it being crucified?

    No.

So then Moxey, best you spend that 30 mil in the bank first before pimping our good name off to some faceless conglomerate.

    We are Wolves.

Yes Chris I’m afraid you are not even remotely premiership ability I’d sooner go with The Hoff than you. If SEB is fully fit have to go with him and Doyler otherwise would start with Doyle and The Hoff.

Fight, fight wherever you may be.

What gave him the right to start againt Stoke anyway after Ebanks Blake scored his first goal of the season? Baffling. Absolutely baffling.

Under no circumstances should we drop chris against Arsenal after only one try after injury, but we must play him with Sylvan…these two are like ‘laurel and Hardy or Morcombe and Wise’ they work , flow and can succeed tigether…once these two click they are dynamite as strikers. Don’t drop Chris, he is a goal scorer and takes the chances other strikers are reluctant to try.

To my mind there is only one player at Wolves that understands Kevin Doyle’s style of play and thet is Keogh who with a little more confidience may well surprise as the best striker to run with Kevin Doyle.

I would start with Doyle and Keogh, and when necessary bring on Chris and Sylvan and I would have Milijas supporting all four.

Drop Chris at your peril, he can and will again, given the opportunity, score the goals Wolves desperatly need in a striker.

Mick McCarthy, when he is not walking on water, is always analysing his striking options. he is a manager “that knows his players” and if one is dropped it is for good reason.

Strikers such as Rooney, Van-persie and Drogbar, have all been in the national press. at some time praising the almost “psychic” ability of Mick to “Get it right”

Mick has been blessed with a “seventh Sight” when it comes to spotting talent. A vision that will serve us well in the forthcomming match against “top 4″ opposition.

Mick will already have is advanced strategy and “secret weapons” planned out, You can be sure of that. Some say he is guided by the spirit of “Cloughie” … We will see young man

In MICK we MUST Trust onward the WOLVES

    2. We would all call it the Mol anyway so if it brought in extra revenue to improve our squad then it does not bother me.

Saturday is a difficult one, but either BIG Chris or Maierhoffer must start as Arsenals two centre backs are small. I personally would play big chris and Milijas behind with Kites, Castillo, Henry, Edwards (or jarvis) back 4 of Stearman, Berra, Craddock, Zubar

I think its good that we have 5 very different strikers to choose from. Iwelumo was picked ahead of SEB because we needed that bit of extra height to defend the set plays from Stoke. Saturday will be completely different.

Its good to see that Mick is thinking about tactics rather than just picking his best players every game.

SEB is best at picking up scrappy goals in the penalty area that will be best against the lower teams.

For Arsenal Doyle and Hoff is probably the best choice. The only chances we are going to get are on the break and so we’ll need our faster players to handle that and the Hoff is a tank when he runs at defences.

Football is a game of opinions, in my mind Iwelumo is not up to premiership quality and would be lucky to reach 5 goals and with only a few assists. Ido agree Doyle and Keogh could pull a few holes in the Arsenal back line maybe bringing on Sylvan for one of them for the last 20 mins or so. Milijas to start playing a 4-4-1-1 line up with keogh linking with Kightly and doyler’. Mek em av it, i say…

    5) You are saying not to drop Chris against Arsenal but then say that you would start with Doyle and keogh – which contradicts yourself!
I do agree with your logic of pairings. What is important this week is that we do not start with the same XI as last week. Elokobi was poor, Castillo was not anywhere near as good as he has been previously and if Kites is not firing we need to bring on Jarvis!

A late response to Jez Moxey’s comments yesterday.
Of course, nobody expects us even to try to compete with the big four or even the next half dozen. Our aim is to get ourselves established in the Premiership. But football is a business unlike any other. A commercial company’s aim is to make as big a profit as possible. A football club’s success is measured on the field not on the balance sheet. I am not so full of negativity that I am just waiting for a comment from the club so that I can shoot it down – I support most of their actions – but I do feel a slight disappointment that we were unable to persuade an established premiership player to join us when we have £25 million in the bank.
If, at the end of the season, we have stayed up everyone will be happy but if we have been relegated I would hope that even Jez may feel a twinge of regret that we have got a nice bank balance but are now back in the Championship.

I and a few thousand Wolves fans will be estatic and heard all over Wolverhampton. I can but dream! All I can say is that I know that the lads will give their all and that is all any of us can ask. Sorry 5) your wrong.
Big Chris is looking for his 100th goal and he’s a 31year old striker who has played for a number of clubs in the lower leagues. Not exactly a fearful record is it ? Kenny Hibbit scored more from midfield with his right foot. (The one he stood on!)

As for 9) you must be the only Wolves supporter brave enough to put Elokobi in your side. I should have a puff of what Whispy Wolf’s on and go and have a sit down.

Arsenal looked a bit slick again last night. Picking the right side….all over the pitch….is essential, so don’t be stubborn Merlin.

Only joking but I care about the football not the name. If it means money in the transfer kitty I’ve got no problem.

SEB and Doyle to start, got to get in their faces and hope for a nicked goal.

No 1 – if we win 3:1 I’ll run round the Mander centre naked.

Put Fabgas in Steve Bull stand in the the first
five minutes and we might stand a chance,
To be realistic, we have to play 110% in every
position to get anything from the next two games.
We don,t have enough quality in depth to sustain
