Albion midfielder Robert Koren has challenged striker Luke Moore to grasp his second chance at the Hawthorns.
The Slovenia star reckons the £3million signing must make the most of the change of management to prove he is good enough to carve out a Baggies career.
Moore grabbed his second goal of pre-season as Albion won 2-0 at League Two Shrewsbury, but Koren insists the forward must carry his positive form in matches and training into the Championship season.
The midfielder said: “It looks like our coaches have a lot of confidence in him, so this is his chance to show that he is good enough.
“So far he hasn’t had enough chances to show that but now the time is here for him. The whole team needs to work hard and he needs to work hard in training.
“He has very good skills and he just needs to show that in the games. If he does that I am sure he will do very well for the team.”
Moore has figured in each of Albion’s four pre-season matches so far and has impressed, scoring against Slovenian side NK Nafta before his clinical finish against the Shrews.
The injury setback to Ishmael Miller and the continued suspension of Roman Bednar means Moore is likely to figure prominently in the early stages of the season.
Koren believes the circumstances give the former Villa man a huge opportunity and is hoping that the pre-season goals will provide him with a valuable burst of confidence.
He said: “Luke has been with us for a long time now, but he hasn’t had much opportunity to show he is a good player.
“He is working hard in training and in every game so far he has tried his best. He has scored a couple of goals.
“That’s really good for his confidence. I hope he works hard, stays clear of injury and gets a chance to show he is a good player.”
Koren grabbed the second goal at Shrewsbury, converting a miss-hit shot from Chris Brunt on 33 minutes.
Moore had given the Baggies the lead with a fine turn and left-footed finish from the edge of the penalty area.
