Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has switched his sights to strengthening the midfield department after revamping his defence.
The Blues boss has already brought in a quartet of back four players during the summer, Giovanny Espinoza the latest to join after Roger Johnson, Scott Dann and the permanent signing of Stephen Carr.
But now the former Scotland boss wants new blood in the centre of the park, despite lining up a deal to ring one-cap England international Lee Bowyer in from West Ham.
McLeish said: “I believe we are short in the midfield area and that’s a position I want to strengthen.
“I would like to get a player of real authority with the ball in central midfield. They are not easy to find.”
