Wolves’ new signing Nenad Milijas is relishing the chance to settle in England after revealing he plans to live locally.

The 26-year-old Serbian international captain has already assessed properties after a flying visit to the area at the weekend, when he signed his four-year contract that sealed his £2.6million switch from Red Star Belgrade.

In contrast to most of Wolves’ high profile stars during the Dave Jones era – the last time the club won promotion to the Premier League – this young and hungry squad live within 15 miles of Wolverhampton.

Now central midfielder Milijas, who speaks good English, plans to follow suit.

He said: “I’m not sure where I’m going to live yet, but have already seen some nice places in the local area.

“My girlfriend will probably come here with me after we’ve been on the tour to Australia.”

Wolves’ last Premier League experience turned sour, as foreign imports such as Portuguese winger Silas and Senegalese forward Henri Camara couldn’t speak English and struggled to adapt to their new surroundings.

But the club have high hopes Milijas will adapt better.

He has now flown back to Serbia to continue his break, after playing in his country’s two recent World Cup qualifiers, but is looking forward to linking up with his new team-mates in a new country.

He said: “England is a footballing country and I think it’s the best here.

“It has the best pitches, the best stadiums, the best fans. It’s a great place to play and what I’ve seen already in a few days is very nice.”
