The Hearts skipper has been manager Mick McCarthy’s long-term January transfer window target.

It is understood the deal for the central defender will cost around £2 million.

Hearts confirmed that Berra will not be involved in today’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture against Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park.

A club spokesperson said, “Hearts has given Christophe permission to talk to Wolves and he does so with our blessing.”

Thank god for that!!! Lets hope he isn’t too greedy and can agree personal terms. Wouldn’t mind Davenport as well, Collins can be put on the transfer list then and craddock can go out on loan to get some football.

Collins is just not good enough for the top half of the Championship let alone Premiership as a “squad” player let alone in the team

This is a bit like the Steve Corica thing when Mark NcGhoo kept picking him regardless of abillity or form – Does Neil Collins have some info about MM that we dont know about? Or even some choice photos? :-0

Suggest you read Mattywolves comment and learn! If we don’t go up this year it will be because of idiots like you that get on the players backs and gift goals and points to the opposition. If you don’t like the players and management don’t go – I’m sure you’d be welcome in one of the many empty seats at Walsall!!

Just echoing “MattyWolfs” comments if people cannot support the players in particular Neil Collins and manager you dont have to watch its a free country. You get the impression that some of you lot would blame Collins for everything, apparently the main reason for the current economic recession is in fact Neil Collins. Ridiculous comparison I know but I think most of you know where I’m coming from.

Good news about Berra just hope there foreign backers dont scupper the deal, still fancy Mancienne aswell.

One other thought regarding the departure of Mark Davies, rumour has it that QPR bid 2million for Michael Johnson of Man City could see him as Mark Davies’s replacement.

Like I said just a thought

5 Sorry my frend; Collins is less than average as a centre half which most fans that go to games witness in most games

IF and thats a big IF players have too much time on their hands and read comments on here or any other website – they are never going to hear/ read what they want! These are grown MEN not little schoolboys who need their nappies changing everytime they have a mishap!

NB* Try using the bit between you ears – An opinion that is not just exclusive to me is that Collins is less than average – Not good enough – it affects the midfield to drop deeper to protect him as our own midfield and keeper get the jitters because they dont know whether Collins can cope – Do you think opposing teams dont know that Collins is the weakest link?

I dont boo players at games; & no amount of “getting behind the lads” will give Collins any more abillity – So grow up!

As far as going to watch Walsall – well IF you really want to – dont let anyone stop you!

Whatever player puts on the shirt will always get my 100% support on the day. However it is a fiercely competitive often ruthless business and we must always be looking to improve in every position. There should be no sacred cows whatsoever-not Kightly or SEB or anyone, but at the same time there shouldnt be scapegoats either.Players do deserve reasonable time to show what they can do during which they should get our 100% support but if they are not delivering they should be replaced and someone else given the chance. It is a sort of evolutionary exercise.

Maybe if we lost today and Reading won, thus making us SECOND, is the only way to stop people saying ‘Why worry, we are top of the league’ because it’s plainly obvious.. This isn’t a 9 point gap anymore, one loss and our top position we have maintained for so long is GONE.
I agree, get behind the lads, the manager, but it’s a little hard when one persons constant mistakes (Yes I DO mean Neil Collins) are costing us so greatly. I along with every other Wolves player (I should hope) am strongly relying on us signing Berra at the least.. And am still praying that we can somehow get Mancienne back..But I am very doubtful of that..
While I don’t think Neil Collins is the ONLY weak player.. Iwelumo, Kightly, even SEB, are not up to their usual standards and haven’t been for a while, and i’m not sure removing a ‘weak link’ will be enough to motivate 10 other players on the pitch. I can only hope that a new signing (In the VERY short space of the transfer window left) will be enough to give us a confidence boost…We DO have one of if not the best team in the championship.. The way we have played throughout the season goes to prove we have more than enough capability within the players we have now, we just need to pull through this ‘bad stint’ because I have every faith that we WILL still gain automatic promotion, and I still believe we can do it top of the league.

i think what people don’t realise is that collins dosn’t make these mistakes on purpose he gives his all mm is to blame for picking him week in week out 12 months ago mm said lee collins was the next young talent off the producation line he signed for port vale last week. what worries me is that he doesn’t give home grown talent a chance.

Tamworth Wolf – you are an idiot. How you can continue to defend Collins is beyond me. The man has made mistake after mistake, and in the biggest game of the season scores an own goal and gets sent off. What more can the man do to harm our promotion chances?

I am pretty sure it’s Collins who has been gifting goals and points to the opposition – not the fans!! 3000 Wolves fans at Reading were not booing him after 51 seconds and chanting “Go on Neill you can lob Hennessy from there” or “Go on Neill give the lino some jip and get yourself sent off”!!!!!

I agree with No.3 get behind the team we all should be taking the positives from the season so far. I used to be a season ticket holder on the South Bank, but live away now, and the constant negative whinging was always present. Reading will probably end top but we are much better than Birmingham they are terrible. The fans backing could be the difference lets not be like the barracking Blues fans. Onwards and upwards
